My mother, growing up and living in a pre-Roe v. Wade world,

had 3 friends who had abortions. One in high school had an abortion on the kitchen table. Two others were both already married and flew out of the country to have abortions. Taking away the right to choose will not end abortions. It will end safe abortions. There will be illegal and dangerous abortions. And those with means will go to whatever place they can afford to go in order to get a safe one. It will be another chapter of American history in which the poor, the isolated, and the young will be punished. This time by those who think their religious beliefs should govern the lives of people they don't even know. And when you get down to it, I can't think of a fundamentalist belief system that doesn't view women as very unequal to men.

A woman who died from an illegal abortion.

The police photo of her body was published in the 1970’s.

This is what the right wing wants for us.

Be warned, you can find that photo on the net, but it is extremely hard to look at.

say for sure exactly the day their last period started, you'll need other dx tools such as an ultrasound. People will still need abortions after 11 weeks as well, of course. But it's a good start.
