Rural hospital serves 6 counties, has 109 total rooms and 9 Intensive Care rooms.

County-wide vax rate is 40%. Surrounding counties somewhat less. Most people do not wear masks in public. Voted 75% for Trump.

Central Illinois is seeing a surge.

They completely overwhelmed our local hospital to the point that no other medical procedures were being done. Heart operations, cancer treatments, you name it - all cancelled in order to “serve” the worst members of our local community. People who worship Trump (mostly) and have nothing but contempt for science and the rule of law.

They should be sent home with a thousand tabs of Ivermectin to die with the dignity of their misguided opinions.

8. Yikes, my county has 10+X the ICU beds/population of that hospital/those counties(combined)

and has fewer current hospitalized Covid patients and ICU Covid patients. I checked the county COVID dashboard earlier today for the first time in a few weeks and the numbers have only been this good once (and very briefly at that) since it all began... (and it's no mystery why, the completely-vaxxed rate of the entire county population -- no age range or eligibility caveats -- is now over 80%, the 5+year-old-having-at-least-a-first-shot rate is almost 90%)

This is a grim portent of what lies ahead this winter for unvaxxed regions as seasonal weather conditions dictate more indoors activity, recirculated air, close quarters, etc...
