7. protection against tyranny is just another gun romance myth they keep telling themselves

to your point, donnie is the biggest *and most obvious* tyrant to rule over this land since king george, but they adore him.

beyond that, their idea of "tyranny" is anyone who tries to remotely restrict their ability to build up a massive arsenal, to threaten minorities, and to abuse their weapons with no consequences.

they want the guns in part to hunt, but also to "protect" themselves against fabricated risks presented by the existence of minorities.

if the government really wanted to be tyrannical about it, some idiot with 157 guns and rifles won't stand a chance. the government can gas or drone or bomb or come at them with tanks and whatever. game over. these people are equipped to overwhelm a minority or two. they're not equipped to stand a chance against the u.s. military or even just the police if the police seriously wanted to take them on.

Their biggest threat will be the deployment of the U.S. Military; and when the shooting starts, the military won’t take any prisoners. Their best hope will be that there will be cameras - so that the bloodbath will stop.

Afghanistan showed us the US military completely dominates people that use rifles and IEDs.

One of the worst uses of the military against US citizens. MacArthur led the troops then. Other famous WWII names were involved.

It could happen again if some have their way.

But there is a world of difference between a people that have been fighting all their lives; and, a bunch of lard asses that sit and watch TV five days a week, play soldiers one day a week, and then enjoy football on the seventh day to recuperate from the Saturday soldier date.

I was expecting your response and I agree with it. However, the divide in the nation is deep enough that neither side should assume all the training is going over to them. This also assumes another election isn’t stolen; which is all the news is about right now.

I would add one more thing to your response. It takes a lot of determination to strap on a suicide bomb and die for your cause. I have not taken a redneck poll, but I am going to assume the results aren’t quite as impressive on their side when it comes to that level of commitment.

I think that sort of thing would end up being targeted acts of terrorism designed to shut things down, as opposed to upfront, open-chested stupid bravery standoffs. It would be a Cold War that would ripple effect the economy; maybe a few idiots would upfront the military; but that would stop after the first few results.

I don’t know what our death rate vs the Taliban death rate was, but if everyone of our soldiers killed 25 or more of theirs before 1 of ours died, then you gotta figure the number for rednecks would be at least triple.

12. Sadly, while I believe that the GOP Congress is a loss cause,

I do believe that the GOP has loss a measurable part of their base due to the insanity of their leaders. Plus, the SCOTUS vote on Abortion rights is going to be a case of the dog catching the car.

I would like to believe that saner people within the GOP will combat the craziness that is currently owned by the fringes of the party. I think that the more radical that they become - the more aware the sane ones also become.

But, what I also fear is the movement on the parts of GOP that control State governments are doing a lot to undermine our Republic. And, the idea that POC have to wait every for the GOP to determine if they will be allowed to vote - is not a long term vote of confidence for peace and stability in the nation.

I’d commented while Trump was in Office that I feared with the trends of the GOP and it’s positions that we were approaching the point where this nation would become like Syria. I stand by that. I find it totally incomprehensible that the current Administration does not realize that accommodation to the sickness that is the GOP is not in the best interest of the nation.

If the current situation were reversed I have no doubt that the GOP would have utilized all parts of government, Patriot Act, DOJ to get to the problem of the events of Jan 6. And, that even before reaching a conclusion - they would have interned all members that they suspected of being a party to the acts of Jan 6.

I find that the two corners of the nation, Texas and Florida, in their own ways are doing things that will hasten violent activities or torment violence against the legitimate Federal government. The people of both those states have shown that State’s right is more important that the National unity.

The only hopeful note on all this mess is that hopefully unlike the results of the first Civil War, if there is a repeat, the organizers and leaders of the next revolt - will end up like Roman leaders of insurrections - with their heads on the end of a stick. And decimation for the messes that support it.

My opinion.

…or military. Understand that anything at home wouldn’t involve American troops marching down the street at citizens. It’d be a quick, pushbutton puttting down of that rebellion via drones and non-lethal means like sound and microwave weapons.

It’s the lie they speak aloud to cover the truly demented REAL reason they whisper to each other…

No, those guns are for them to spitefully lash out at their neighbors on the other side (us) when the balance fully tips (as it has begun) and their awful ways are no longer so protected by a loud minority of legislators and activist judges.

They’re to scare us into compliance.

To NOT ultimately end their bullsh*t.

It’s a long-game bully move.
