School shootings, and dead children seem to be the point where outrage will finally make a stand. It's the parent's of all those children shot in school who are in the foxholes, fighting against monsters like Alex Jones. We have their backs, but they will carry the moment.

But apparently the American lust for guns has no end.

(46,747 posts)was a big win. With each school shooting, we are seeing signs that everyone has had enough. Look what they did in the Crumbley case. They went after the parents! That's progress.

(7,462 posts)Like the others said, if Sandy Hook didn't do it, this sure as hell won't.
Probably a bunch of Go Fund Me's right now set up for them.

(21,511 posts)not about the behavior of the survivors snd their families. It's the RWers who scream the loudest about gun rights, with the most insane justifications. They will continue to do that despite pushback from survivors and families. Sad but true reality.

(8,387 posts)Not everyone has their nose glued to news 24/7.
There are a lot of unused/underused buildings in Detroit. If this one was used by transients to sleep in, the notion of someone else letting them in doesnt seem like a big deal.
SoCalDavidS
(9,998 posts)During the conference, they were giving every indication that it was intentional, and not by mistake that they were let in. Almost as if it had been pre-arranged. Will wait to find out more, but I do not believe their comments would have been what they were, if it had been a mistake by someone who did not know who they were.

(8,387 posts)Absent them coming out and saying what happened, it might not be the best approach to put someone on social medias most wanted list from implications.

(8,387 posts)So, someone let them in. Maybe they had a good story to bluff their way in to a place where someone might catch a a few zs.

(8,387 posts)In a parallel thread to this one, it was assumed that a person associated with that address was necessarily the one who let them in.
iemanja
(53,035 posts)but that wasn't what I was doing in this OP.

(8,387 posts)First off, guessing correctly is insufficient for going after identified individuals.
But it still appears that it may have been an incorrect guess: "In fact, he was not in the loop."

But your point about the other thread is still valid. I do not, however, think it applies appropriately to this thread.

(51,613 posts)This was planned out by whoever helped them hide. There is even a video of them easily walking into the building from their car and hiding there. No one knows if they were planning to go to Canada.

Wonder how the residents of Oxford will view this store from here on out.

(1,737 posts)Wow, the school dropped the ball on this one. As a mental health professional, I see many red flags and as a parent I'm pissed. This child should not have been allowed back in the school until he is mentally cleared to do so. Now that I see that the school counselor was involved, I believe his mental status was assessed and the truth was not told. However, due to the observations of the teachers (the student searching the internet for ammunition, the gory drawing, and ominous words), it should not have been a choice for the student to leave the premises.
I'm also now questioning whether the parents were clueless about their child's online activities and intentions. This seems like a dysfunctional family that needed help.

(2,390 posts)They were trying to hide out until they could rally enough fellow travelers to help them escape somewhere (a red state where pursuit would be less than robust). This was probably just leg one of the journey. Them having help getting access makes perfect sense.
