He is a socially inept PhD in computer science that has a strong mathematical background as well. I have this on good authority since I went to high school with his odious daughters… I didn’t know how nasty they were though at the time. They seemed nice enough, but were the type that didn’t interact with kids not in honors classes. After they graduated, Robert was convinced to leave IBM’s speech recognition department for Renaissance and the rest is history.

Robert is obsessed with gun rights and government spending (his taxes). To him, the amount of money you make determines your societal worth. A friend of mine from HS that I reconnected with accidentally through the workplace visits them once in a while as he was friendly with one of the daughters. According to my friend, he is definitely “off” and can easily be influenced by right wing ideologues who are cleverly manipulative (Read: Steve Bannon).

I might be wrong, but I seem to remember that when I was in college that the only people in my school who received a Masters of Science degree in any of the sciences (i.e chemistry, physics, or biology) only got those degrees when their PhD thesis didn’t make the cut.

So, a masters of science degree isn’t anything to brag about.

him in their alumni magazine pretty often - I have a daughter who went there. I doubt MIT includes Massie on any list of alumni they are proudest of.
