There was a time when I believed that voting was important. Then I believed that voting and donating was important. Then I believed that voting, donating and campaigning was important.

I am starting to think that all of this is not enough.

There have been a lot of comparisons to how Hitler rose to power, and what is happening in America today. It scares the daylights out of me, because I'm not sure what could have been done then, I'm not sure what can be done now.

There is a big part of me that wants to take up arms.

The only thing that encourages me is when I see white Southern straight men talk to other white straight Southern and mid-Western men about things like racism and white privilege. That REALLY encourages me.

And then I start to think that the ONLY thing that is going to make a difference is when liberal individuals talk to conservative individuals, first by finding as much common ground as possible, and then expanding it as far as possible, and gently nudging conservatives over to our side.

I really don't think anything else will work.

is one thing that is getting harder. I have been knocking on doors in Democrat areas for 40 years.

Nowadays too many just refuse to vote. Younger folks seem to want progressive candidates or they will either not vote or go third party.

Older folks I met five years ago would not vote because "she had emails" yet had no idea what they were about.

The RW slander campaign is VERY strong, designed to keep Dems at home.

2. What do you say to them?

My husband has banned me from campaigning because it triggers bipolar episodes. So I did not campaign when Hillary lost. And it hurt. As though I could have made a difference.

This whole "if it's not my way I'm staying home" thing curdles my blood. There was so much at stake with the judges and people just couldn't see it, didn't understand, didn't think it would matter - they are both the same, and I just want to cry. All the teeth in place to control voting rights were with the Supreme Court. All of the teeth in place to control abortion were with the Supreme Court. We already knew that one judge would be replaced. We knew. How could they not see?

My niece in Texas wouldn't vote and I didn't speak to her for an entire year, I was so upset. Do they see what we fought for? Why do they throw it away? How can they say it doesn't matter? How can they think that their vote doesn't count? How can they be so blind?

If there was ever an example so blatant and in-your-face, you can point to DeJoy dismantling the post office right before elections when people needed to vote by mail. That's what Republicans do. How can you allow them to win?

So - what did you say to them to convince them to vote. Perhaps more than conservatives, it is these sitter-homers that we need to talk to.

3. Voting remains important. And yes, talking to the other side is important, even if it is not easy

They will use illogical "reasoning". Call them out on it. Nail them down point by point.

They will gish-gallop, "flood the zone with shit" (Bannon). Call them out on it. Bring them back to each topic in sequence.

They will repeat lies. Call them out on it. Force them to prove it with credible sources. greatgameindia.com, Epoch Times, and Zero Hedge are not credible.

They will invoke what-about-ism. Call them on it. Bring them back to the point at hand.

It takes patience, but they will understand their shit don't carry water for you.

6. Lots of things will work but only after the GOPlague tries to get away with their crimes

1st, people take matters into their own hands. In Spotsylvania VA a week ago, when they said they were OK with banning books, all the kids in the school refused to go to school. In the NBA, the entire starting roster of the NBA's Houston Rockets left the team after finding out their owner supported Trump. Odd but related events like these start to add up.

2nd, arresting republicans. 675+ arrested so far for the 1/6 insurrection. Arresting Trump would almost surely extinguish the loony faction of the GOPlague.

3rd, the GOPlague is killing itself by the 1000s every week with covid.

4th, making fun of and totally disgracing the GOPlague crooks in public every day. Shaming does work, just watch Kimmell, Myers or Colbert any day of the week, or read Imgur.

5th, the one I get the most shit for is by stating that the GOPlague will steal a couple of states in 2022 anyway. They'll say their elections were rigged and install their own puppets. I say let them have their GOPuke fascist hellholes, likely Texas and Florida so the entire world can finally see what horrific fascist racist deathcults do with their dream-states.
