Many tall buildings don't have a "13th" floor. There may be over 50 floors in these buildings, but there is no "13" button to push in the elevators. The floor above the 12th is labelled "14th". The 13th has just been "disappeared".
I propose that the entire 45th presidential administration be "disappeared". Textbooks will not mention Trump or anyone in his administration. President Biden's predecessor will be listed as Barack Obama. There will be no official portrait of Trump and no---wait for it!---library.
It stands to reason that a disappeared administration did not appoint any federal judges, including SCOTUS Justices. Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barret can have 24 hours to clean out their desks before President Biden's appointments are seated.
A lot more housecleaning would be necessary if we "disappeared" the 45th presidency, but I am certainly many citizens would be happy to help.
How 'bout them apples, Trumpies? Still want to eliminate slavery and Jim Crow from classroom discussions?

(81,235 posts)As does barbtries comment suggesting an asterisk be added by Oranginos name, if we must list him. There should be asterisks by ANYONES name who won without winning the popular vote. Call it the Inside Straight Club.

(3,110 posts)I'm thinking history's framing of the TFG regime must be more like slavery or the Holocaust. This way it is viewed as an aberrant period in our history that must be confronted with eyes wide open and acknowledged as the horrible mistake it was. Electing a criminal con man as a U.S. President is indeed an atrocity that must be corrected (with prosecutions!!) and atoned for, for the sake of future generations and for the whole world. We must vow as a nation NEVER to allow it to happen again-- to include enacting legislation that prevents a repeat of this terrible near-destruction of our democracy.

(6,017 posts)...as if the then-GOP-controlled Congress didn't spend all of 2017 quite literally working diligently to erase that a Black man had ever been President of the United States of America. A coworker & I used to check the Congressional schedule & record at least 2x a week to see them hard at work. Nothing was too small that the GOP wasn't going to vote to repeal it, all the way down to Post Office and freeway overpass dedication namings.
