resident of a South Texas village told NBC News that SpaceX wanted to buy her house for $150,000 but that the company's offer was one-third of the price of similar properties nearby.

SpaceX is building its Starbase city in Boca Chica, where the company has launched its Falcon 9 rockets and Starship prototypes.

Some residents have said SpaceX made offers for their homes that they considered unfair or were too low to buy similar homes elsewhere. The Wall Street Journal reported in May that SpaceX had bought at least 112 parcels of land in the area.

Celia Johnson, a retiree who owns a three-bedroom waterfront ranch in Boca Chica, told NBC News that she held out on SpaceX's offer because it was too low, based on the prices of lower-quality properties in the area.

3. SpaceX is threatening to seize their properties if they don't sell

They are quoting Zillow prices but I'm starting to think Zillow doesn't know it's butt from a hole in the ground when it comes to real estate prices.

My neighbor just sold his small farm about 8 acres and a barn for half a million and Zillow had it listed for $300,000.

They had my farm listed for less than $300,000 and I have double the amount of land and a bigger house. I got an offer for it from a flipper for $500,000 without him even missing a beat. I'm never selling but where is Zillow pulling their prices out of?

I had quite the opposite experience with Zillow. They showed a grid of houses in my neighborhood and had the estimated value of my place $100,000 more than what the county had appraised it for.
