These poll numbers have me flummoxed.

Last edited Sat Dec 11, 2021, 12:13 PM - Edit history (1)

President Biden is working diligently to guide our nation through the worst pandemic in a century and not rage tweeting. That has to count for something.

Inflated food prices have people more concerned than I've seen in the past five years.

the party registrations, independents, etc. of those sampled

Another problem is the relentless bashing Biden took from the withdrawal from Afghanistan by the media. That went for one solid week, and every over the top hyperbole was thrown at him. That is when the downward drop in the poll numbers started. I recall after Biden’s presentation of the situation, Jake Tapper instead of summarizing what Biden had said, went on an undying rampage against Biden on it, and soon every other news outlet followed the same pattern. It reminded me of when the media incorrectly said the email investigation had been reopened, which was a lie, but was effective in getting trump elected

why I want to see the demographic breakdown

I can understand the inflation concerns,, though I believe the foundation for those were a result of the previous administrations mishandling of the pandemic, trade wars etc, which opened a door to shortages, but blaming Biden for his handling of Covid, which no other poll had shown, makes me want to see just who was polled, and if it was a good sampling

Some pollsters, such as Rasmussen I don’t think should even be included, and I notice a lot of unfamiliar pollsters are now being included, that don’t have a track record, and I am not sure if some of those pollsters are there not to report on the public’s views, but to mold those views

You can be a straight A student, and having one F can distort everything

Of Biden and Dems in disarray narrative. You can’t talk about Dems in disarray when the other party has completely imploded and abandoned democracy. Dems having disagreements on policy matters is not disarray. (Sinema and Manchin are a different story), but every disagreement amongst dems is covered as a major catastrophe.
Painting the picture that Dems are incompetent. Hashing out the details of a bill in no way compares to supporting insurrection, taking away voting rights, racism and violence. But somehow it’s Dems that are in disarray.

If the media actually covered what Dems have done and are pushing to get done while republicans do nothing, things might be different.

Afghanistan was horrible optics and literally nothing else was going on politically or in governance.
The media saw blood and attacked. They had al they needed to wash away the Trump disaster. Two horse race.
Gas and food prices are way up and regardless of the reason a POTUS always gets the blame.
Hugs moves have been made in legislation and wiping away the Clustertrump but that’s long and boring.

by challenging the dominant narrative of Biden's competence and restoration of faith in government. His poll numbers fell then in August from very high numbers to under 50%, and once the narrative was changed, it allowed the media to subsequently "pin the tail" of everything negative: inflation and Covid-19 resurgence on Biden. Thing is they likely would have done so anyways.

That's how good our liberal media is . . .

Biden is getting Jimmy Cartered. There is no doubt about it. The media is not democracy's friend. And yet they will be among the first to feel the affects of the GOP's wrath come the future.

the 6+% gdp growth in the first two quarters this year is a staggeringly huge economic boom.

of course our infrastructure can't keep up with such massive growth!

of course there's going to be some inflation along with such massive growth!

of course there are going to be ports clogged and some shortages because demand is through the roof and it takes time for supply and infrastructure to catch up!

all these problems would have gone away if we merely had more tepid growth, but then of course, the media would have hammered biden for not growing the economy fast enough.

That's because we were coming off 2020's Covid destruction of the economy, which was bound to rebound when businesses opened again in 2021. We're not even back to early 2020 levels yet.
