Surely they had someone from like the Energy Resources Council (or some shit like that) on at the same time, ya know, to provide 'balance'?

(19,382 posts)I know electric cars seem to be the main Avenue in controlling the climate, but did they give any other suggestions? Any word on trying to convince India, Russia and China because without them, it will be impossible to beat.

(60,965 posts)Many cities and states have near term goals to be net zero. My town, Burlington VT, already is using a mix of hydroelectric, solar, wind, and biomass - using trees that fall in forests.
Another segment is reducing the energy to heat buildings - and there the low hanging fruit for years has been weatherization.
As to the other countries, that HAS been the goal of both Paris and Glasgow. One area that did not do as well as the diplomats in Paris wanted was to create a fund to help poorer developing nations "jump" directly to clean energy rather than dirty fuel. This really has to happen and - much as happens when countries commit to helping after a catastrophe - the money received is often no where near what is committed.

and do the same thing for hurricanes, forest fires, droughts, snowstorms and flooding.
