In 1984, a man named Lyndon Larouche campaigned for the Democratic nomination

for POTUS. He ended with 1% of the primary votes and instantly claimed the primary win had been stolen by "massive, absolutely massive vote fraud!"

Does this whiny nonsense sound familiar?

Back then, though, Mr. Larouche's party did not echo and amplify his silliness. Americans---including virtually all Democrats--- scoffed, rolled their eyes and moved on.

Just one more "difference between the parties": we don't support nutjobs and crybabies.

1. I saw some of his late night ads -- "Nonlinear spectroscopy cures cancer" and such nuttery.

Google "SNL Lyndon Larouche Theater" for some parody which is almost straight from his "news" letters.

Just two years later followers of Larouche won the Democratic primary in Illinois for Lt. Governor and Secretary of State. The Democratic nominee for Governor, Adlai Stevenson, was forced to create another party for the general election. They all lost.

ignorance of our primary voters. Everyone knew to vote for Adlai, but thought the rest of the ballot didn't much matter. It was an embarrassing time in Illinois for Democrats.

But, Adlai refused to run with the wackos, knowing it would doom his campaign.

to the Trump cult. All the vehicles with Ron Paul signs were rusted out heaps. We didn't have social media and Fox or he could have been president. I think Trump just stole his act from Sarah Palin's word salad.

That's the difference. What would or should the Democratic Party do if someone they don't like got a majority of the votes? The superdelegates were meant to be a hedge against that, but we know they've been neutered.

His perseverance did not pay off, fortunately for the rest of us. I guess he was too dense to get a clue.
