on friday continue to delude themselves that climate change is not real?
maybe i'm just a bitch, but i wonder about shit like that.
i mean--if it happened to you, or happened all around you, would you still think it's a libural hoax and al gore was totally full of shit?
that one tornado went on for over 120 miles. i was watching the news and looking at the devastation that occurred, and hearing about the death toll. average december has 24 tornadoes. this was 30 in one night.
i don't know. was it enuf of a "come to jesus" moment or will they justify it in the same way they usually do (this sort of thing happens every 200 years, or 500 years, or every 1,000 years, blablablabla)
makes me want to ask: do you believe climate change is real NOW???

(785 posts)Such a silly post. So what if they don't come around on climate change? Is it going to change anything? Suppose they do come around and say climate change is real, is it going to change anything? Is it going to rebuild their home? Their lives are shattered. Catastrophic weather doesn't care whether you're a believer in climate change or not.

(25,048 posts)In fact, the things that make people change are almost always large-scale events like a death, loss of a job, divorce, a natural catastrophe, etc. These types of occurrences cause people to rethink their lives.
When people live in their own status quo is when they dont change.
Perhaps these unfortunate victims will reevaluate their voting choices in the future.

Climate change deniers acknowledging that climate change is real will be a significant development. And we can do little to combat these kinds of events until they come around and we are united in the fight against it.
It's not a silly post. I lost family members in an unprecedented storm this year. I, too, wonder what it will take and whether this was enough for the deniers.

It's like the classic film theme where the big, bad monster is allowed to run wild as long as The Man gets his share. The "monster" could be a shark/Jaws or Nuclear Disaster/China Syndrome. In the end the real monsters are revealed as being the rich and powerful.
