Who continued to lie to the American people, after they had expressed so much concern when the attack upon our Capitol was happening?
Did they think they had the "influence" to force Trump to make a decision they wanted?
Why did they continue the "Big Lie" when they could so clearly see the results of their campaign to spread it?
Why did they think Donald Trump was the only person that could stop it? (Did they believe the mob was following his orders?)
In my opinion, it would be a service to America if they put these lying propagandists under oath.

(45,410 posts)I want to see Sean Hannity held in criminal contempt of Congress. They cant hide behind the journalist shield laws. Theyve already put everything out on their air. Theres no confidentialities

(5,633 posts)This story has been good for them so far IMO. They're now on record as being against the insurrection, and trying to get Trump to stop it. Even the President's son is now on record as being against it.
They'll say Trump responded the same day, and even within 3 hours released tweets and a video statement calling for calm. If asked why they continued to support him, they'll say he backs policy positions they support, and nothing that happened on January 6th by 'supporters' of the President changed that.

(55,802 posts)Drawing the propagandists into an investigation is an uncertain thing in my mind. Other than their emails and contacts, you get spin. Let the emails speak for themselves? Facts are facts.
Interesting that Rep. Cheney went there. She knows what's destroyed her party. I wonder what she's up to.

(10,540 posts)It is ok for them to lie to us! This can be seen again in their defense of Tucker Carlson when Tuckers lawyer successfully argued that no reasonable person believes what Tucker is saying.

(46,227 posts)That post referred to a Florida Court of Appeals case. The case you are citing was from New York. I'm not sure how I was supposed to know you were referring to a completely different case than the post to which we both replied.
And the New York case only addressed Tucker Carlson's show, not Fox News in general. And the court 's description of Fox News' argument that specific statements made by Carlson about Susan MacDougal were not defamatory claim wasn't that Fox News is was "entertainment" (a word that does not appear anywhere in the court's opinion). Rather, Fox News' defense, which the court accepted, was that with respect to the specific statements alleged to be defamatory, Carlson "cannot be understood to have been stating facts, but instead that he was delivering an opinion using hyperbole for effect."

(1,364 posts)should be surrounding Faux News Headquarters right now, demanding Laura Ingiham, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, etc to comment on their crimes. They need to set up crews and equipment outside of their homes, etc. (alleged crimes)

(8,183 posts)why give these clowns a platform and destroy the seriousness of the select committee's work?
they do that anyway I'm sure. But not reason to question them, they're just going to lie and abuse the procedure to no benefit of the investigation.

(8,183 posts)I think that is ultimate bottom line lesson learned for the past decade and certainly the past five years, wouldn't you agree?
