A couple in Florida realized they were in a seriously sticky situation when they found out they had a seven-foot-tall beehive behind their bathroom wall.
The Daily Mail reports how it all started when the couplewho live in St. Petersburgfirst began to suspect things were amiss when bees kept on popping up out of nowhere each time they used the shower. On top of that, there was a constant buzzing noise coming through the walls, prompting them to eventually call bee removal expert and founder of HowsYourDayHoney.com, Elisha Bixler.
The actual amount of honey found within the walls came out to about 100 pounds. On top of that there were roughly 60,000 to 80,000 bees living in the washroom colony which, luckily for the couple, never busted through the wall in their entirety.
Bixler confirmed that she will be relocating the bees to a new home in one of her apiaries, which serve to look after the bugs while also tapping into their delicious, sweet byproduct.

(18,359 posts)We had to call the BeeCharmer to collect some HoneyBees under our storage building. She was good at her job. Relocated to her hives and we got a free jar of honey from her hives. Our honey was not consumed.
One of things the BeeCharmer told us was never ever spray poison on the hives, as there are Raider Bees that will seek out other nearby hives to steal the honey that is there. If it has been poisoned then the Raiders will carry it back to their hives and kill off that colony as well.
