SF Mayor London Breed Announces Crime Crackdown; 'Less Tolerant Of All The Bulls-t That Has Destroye

KPIX

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Mayor London Breed launched an emergency police intervention in San Francisco’s crime-ridden Tenderloin neighborhood Tuesday, targeting a pipeline of illegal drugs that has been fueling a surge in gun violence and deadly fentanyl overdoses.

Breed’s anger and frustration over the crime surge in the city were on full display at her noon news conference.

“It’s time the reign of criminals who are destroying our city, it is time for it to come to an end,” she said. “And it comes to an end when we take the steps to more aggressive with law enforcement. More aggressive with the changes in our policies and less tolerate of all the bullshit that has destroyed our city.”

On Tuesday afternoon, the SFPD’s Tenderloin Station Twitter account posted information on police activity in the neighborhood over just the past week, including the seizure of nearly a kilo of drugs — more than half of which (over 600 grams) was fentanyl — and the arrests of 17 suspected drug dealers.

Perhaps she should take this up with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez who thinks its a hoax.

She's going to flood the Tenderloin with SFPD do deal with a public health crisis while shoplifting remains rampant throughout the city? Smart.

Press Briefing by Press Secretary Jen Psaki and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, December 7, 2021

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — congresswoman — said earlier this week also that she doubted allegations of organized retail thefts. She believed it was a Walgreens in California that cited it, but the data didn’t back it up. Does the President believe that organized retail theft is really happening? And should it be on the stores themselves to take action to prevent it?

MS. PSAKI: Well, we don’t agree. And I think our actions and the work that we have had in working with the Justice Department, the FBI, and federal law enforcement show that we take — we’ve seen some of these extremely video — extremely disturbing videos showing retail thefts in both major retailers — as well as state and local leaders, like Governor Newsom, have identified this as a serious concern.

7. its a RW spin up job, one that you are using to take potshots at an elected Dem

here is were IT ALL came from

one dodgy AF loaded slanted mention on December 1st by the Moonie-owned RW Washington Times

she NEVER used the word hoax, and the entire article is slanted to attack the Dems

also the article below is almost never used as the source, the RW uses another later Washington Times article that singles out and attacks AOC with a non linked refence to the original WT article I dug up

and the article below puts words in her mouth and draws conclusions she never said

the RW hit machine and the Rethugs took this one small bullshit secondarily-referenced piece and ran with it

and now you are amplifying it here on DU

Smash-and-grab crime wave baffles congressional Democrats

https://archive.ph/sKBGJ

Democrats on Capitol Hill are flummoxed by the waves of smash-and-grab retail thefts in their states, with some denying it’s happening and others saying they are not ready to make major shoplifting a felony.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Democrat, said retailers could be fabricating the rash of smash-and-grab burglaries and “flash mob” shoplifting sprees.

“We have to talk about specifics because, for example, we’re actually seeing a lot of these allegations of organized retail theft are not actually panning out,” she told The Washington Times. “I believe it’s a Walgreens in California cited it, but the data didn’t back it up.”

let's focus on what they did

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Democrat, said retailers could be fabricating the rash

she never said that, that is RW spin and false frame

Who was the 'reporter' who asked that question to Psaki in your presser link?

I wager it was one of the RW shills shit-stirring as usual

Q "Real quick on crime and another topic. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot appeared to pass some blame onto retailers for these smash-and-grabs, saying that she’s disappointed that these stores are not putting security officers in place, having working cameras, and chaining up high-end bags."
Lightfoot doesn't blame retailers.

"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — congresswoman — said earlier this week also that she doubted allegations of organized retail thefts. She believed it was a Walgreens in California that cited it, but the data didn’t back it up. Does the President believe that organized retail theft is really happening? And should it be on the stores themselves to take action to prevent it?"
Is there another source besides a right-wing rag? Just because someone asks a question and frames a narrative doesn't make it factual.

8. Honestly think it's pretty bad form for a sitting mayor to refer to their city as 'destroyed'

As in, it currently lies in ruins.

And I dunno, I was just down in the Haight a couple months ago. Had a great meal at my fave restaurant.

The City was most def. not 'destroyed'.

Also, the Tenderloin has been flooded with opioids since at least 2001.

BELIEVE me, I know this.

Also, there wouldn't be so many overdoses if opioids were legal and everyone knew exactly what they were buying.

BOOO ramping up the war on drugs to score political points!

12. It's not what we traditionally think of as organized crime,
Thu Dec 16, 2021, 01:47 PM

such as the Mafia. But when 30 people rush into a store at once and grab merchandise, and it appears they know exactly what to grab (high end items) then they run out of the store and jump into ten waiting getaway cars, that's organized. Arrests that have been made and stolen property that has been recovered also support that it's an organized effort.

The only positive thing about this is it guarantees felony charges for all involved. And on Bay Area TV staions the news every night lately has stories about arrests being made, property being recovered and felony charges being brought.

There are also copy-cats. My comment was that if AOC made a remark about organized crime, that it did not mean she did not believe it was happening, but to her it had a specific meaning. Be that intra-state or federal.
