Oh my god. I just realized that Repub politicians not only want the pandemic to continue in general,

since that will make Biden look bad, but it seems to me that they also specifically want their own constituents to lose loved ones to Covid because they know that they, the Republican politicians, will be able to direct their grieving voters' anger against Biden and the Dems.

The rising surge in Covid deaths, especially among Republican Americans, is good news for the GOP. The more deaths, the more outrage, which is how they get themselves elected. Before TFG, I wouldn't have thought them capable of such cruel cynicism, but now, I wonder.

They must be banking on enough of their constituents not dying of Covid to still get elected, with the added insurance of voter suppression bills and their efforts to make it possible for Republican-controlled state legislatures to toss out voting results that do not favor Republican candidates.

Yikes.

They want the liberals, people of color, and LGBT Americans owned. However their worldview prevails, that's fine by them.

The deaths are just civilian collateral damage in their quest for permanent power.

Once that happens, maybe they will revert back to actually caring about the democracy . . . naaaaah. Probably no chance of that.

It's like they no longer have any human responses except cynical glee (the GOP) and free-range rage (the anti-vaxxers) and nihilism (the fundies).

They seem in an alternate universe where you celebrate your father's death because "God must have wanted another angel" and you are consumed with destroying yourself because "that will own the libs," and if you're the GOP, you think that if you can just get the survivors to blame Biden, that'll make enough rage in them to make up for the loss of all those Trump voters who have gone to be with God or wherever they've gone.

It's just appalling. It's like watching zombies rip each other apart.

We're seeing yet another spike in Covid rates, and the U.S. is getting another lesson in exponential growth and its practical application to the spread of disease. Those suffering the most, of course, are the unvaccinated. Which party has been militating against vaccination? It hasn't been Democrats. Which party's supporters are more likely to be unvaccinated? Again, not Democrats.

So, Mr. and Mrs. America, you're upset by another wave of pandemic infections? Worried for yourself, a relative, a friend, that the infection will spread to you or them? Republicans are to blame. Republicans have been gambling with your lives for political gain. You want this nightmare to end? Vote Democratic.

The Trump crowd f/k/a the Tea Party have grafted themselves onto the Republican Party and have taken over the host.

Rather than deal with reality, they use it to pound Democrats, play-acting through their tenures in Congress rather than legislating. It's Kabuki Theater for a throng of insentients.
