Woman trying to stop bear hunters unleashes dog, and an attack ensued, VT officials say

https://www.yahoo.com/news/woman-trying-stop-bear-hunters-234912687.html

Two women were trying to stop bear hunters before one unleashed a German shepherd – and an attack ensued, according to Vermont wildlife officials.

The loose dog attacked one of the hunters’ leashed hounds, causing injuries that needed veterinary care, officials said.

After an investigation of “hunter harassment,” Donna Babic and Betty Eastman “were found guilty of interfering” with the three hunters on Nov. 22, the state’s Fish & Wildlife Department announced in a Dec. 14 news release.

“I would ask that Vermonters respect one another’s constitutional right to hunt,” Col. Jason Batchelder, Fish and Wildlife’s chief game warden, said in a statement.

Why can folks not let each other alone when laws are being followed? The folks hunting bears here were doing so legally. Attacking someone in this way isn't a great way to rally people to your cause, id think.

have exploded in population all across the country in places where they've no natural competition or predators. They are fascinating beasts, very adaptable, but can become a major nuisance if they get too populous in areas with a human presence. Hunting is the only tool these wildlife agencies have to keep populations regulated, short of just culling bears.

Out I was charged by a Dalmatian. I stuck the 12 gauge in his face and he stayed there baring his teeth while I held the gun on him. The breathless and irresponsible owner came up screaming “don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!” He leashed the dog. I give the dog credit that it showed restraint. I’m not getting bitten if I can defend myself.

Ask your vet their opinion. There are some VERY well bred GSDs, but far too many backyard bred bundles of nerves.

It's their constitutional right to enjoy the outdoors by playing music as much as it is the hunters' rights to hunt, or try to. lol

Leave the doggo at home and take a nice outing to the woods everyday during hunting season with the noisemaker of your choice is my recommendation.
