The Slobfather and his spawn are very worried about the Jan 6 findings and now MoscowMitch is about to jump ship.
This is going to be fun.

(18,272 posts)Then McCarthy went down to visit him and everything went quickly back to Trump. It will be nice if they start to leave him again.
Personally, I'd like to see the Republican party go back to the days when we just disagreed with them on policy but didn't fear they didn't have America's best interest at heart. I'm not holding my breath on that one.

(22,716 posts)However, I reserve the right to remain skeptical about the GOP deserting Trump, as long as the Republican National Committee is paying his legal bills: https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/rnc-spending-trump-s-legal-bills-starts-look-even-worse-n1286196
It'll sure be fun to watch when/if they do bail on him.

(9,714 posts)The old guard knew it was going to lead to an existential challenge, but they accepted it because so much of their base was on board. The parasite has now overtaken the host and Mitch and others (Liz Cheney being a prime example) are now trying desperately to take back their Party.
They're either going to lose the battle and go full-blown fascist or they'll win and we'll have the GOP of old to contend with. Frankly, I hate both manifestations, but the MAGA crowd is fugging dangerous to democracy.

And I doubt that Trump is even remotely worried about the Jan 6 committee, because they don't really have teeth and it does not look as the DOJ is actually doing something about his crimes.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/mcconnell-says-jan-6-committee-s-findings-are-something-public-n1286194
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Thursday that he looks forward to seeing what the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol finds in its probe.
It was a horrendous event and I think what they are seeking to find out is something the public needs to know, McConnell said in an interview with Spectrum News.
McConnells interest in the investigation is notable since he had opposed the creation of a bipartisan Jan. 6 commission, calling the idea slanted and unbalanced.
The minority leader's comments are a stark contrast to those of his GOP counterpart in the House, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who has denounced the committees work as purely partisan.
