I originally got my two shots of

Moderna.I was stupid and got a jand j booster.

Now the cdc says dont get j and j as a booster.

I hope they let people who got j and j boosters get moderna..

On top of this and the fact J and J booster is not reccomended I am scared I wont have enough protection. If I got covid it could very well kill me because I have several risk factors.

I so wish I chose moderna.

I hope I can get another booster of moderna pretty soon..

This information that "J&J is not recommended" is a little bit of hysteria.

The risk they are talking about is a VERY TEENY RISK of a VERY RARE blood clot with J&J. It has only happened to a few, out of MILLIONS, and only to women under 50.

J&J is still recommended as a vaccine -- two doses and now likely a third, for a booster.

The other two vaccines ALSO come with a risk of a bad reaction that can damage the heart.

What does your doctor say?

but I believe the J&J problem is rare blood-clot side-effects, not efficacy.

My opinion, of course, is as good as any other random person on the internets.

But check it out.

5. J&J appears to have been very effective in protecting people in South Africa

J&J and Pfizer are the two being used in South Africa.

"J&J's vaccine appears to be preventing severe disease in a study involving hundreds of thousands of South African health workers and no one on the study has died after being infected by the omicron variant, Glenda Gray, the co-lead of the study said in an earlier presentation on Tuesday."

6. Has anybody died in South Africa in groups that didn't get J&J vaccine?

South Africa is claiming that omicron produces mild symptoms (which is not what is happening in Europe, apparently). But to claim J&J is offering this protection, people in other groups would have to be dying from omicron.

They only use Pfizer and J&J there. South Africa is donating 2 million J&J vaccines to other African countries to boost the vaccinations on the continent.

in the group who got J&J died from omicron, one would have to show that people in other groups who didn't get J&J died from omicron.
And South Africa has been claiming that omicron is causing mild symptoms.

11. It would have to go way beyond what you suggest to get the entire picture.

Other things would have to be factored in regarding those who died such as the person's health prior to infection.

Apparently they did analyze data between the only two vaccinations they are giving there.

South Africa to give J&J vaccines to other African nations
South Africa's government says the country will donate just over 2 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to other African countries to boost the continent’s vaccine drive

"South African scientists say that their analysis of data suggests the Pfizer vaccine offers less defense against infection from omicron and reduced, but still good, protection from hospitalization."

U.S. study suggests vaccines may be ineffective against Omicron without booster

NEW YORK, Dec 14 (Reuters) - All three U.S.-authorized COVID-19 vaccines appear to be significantly less protective against the newly-detected Omicron variant of the coronavirus in laboratory testing, but a booster dose likely restores most of the protection, according to a study released on Tuesday.

~snip~

The researchers found "low to absent" antibody neutralization of the variant from the regular regimens of all three vaccines - two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines or one of J&J's single-dose vaccine.

But the blood from recent recipients of an additional booster dose exhibited potent neutralization of the variant, the study found.

~snip~

Moderna and J&J have yet to release any of their own data about how the vaccines perform against the new variant. J&J declined to comment on the new study and Moderna did not respond to request for comment.
