https://www.politico.com/news/2021/12/18/stop-the-steal-founder-jan-6-committee-gop-lawmakers-525345Stop the Steal founder told Jan. 6 committee about contacts with GOP lawmakers
The description of the testimony comes in a lawsuit Ali Alexander filed to block the committee from obtaining his phone records.
Ali Alexander, who founded the pro-Trump Stop the Steal movement and attended the rally that preceded the Capitol attack, told congressional investigators that he recalls a few phone conversations with Rep. Paul Gosar and a text exchange with Rep. Mo Brooks about his efforts in the run-up to Jan. 6, his lawyers confirmed in a late Friday court filing.
Alexander also told the Jan. 6 House select committee that he spoke to Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) in person and never by phone, to the best of his recollection, his lawyers say.
Gosar, Brooks, Biggs and others are directly implicated in the planning of the attack.

(8,844 posts)50 years ago, an over the road trucker friend of mine took me out and let me drive his Kenworth KW-40??????
I felt privileged that he did that so that I wouldn't have to put it on my bucket list later in life........LOL
Later, I drove/engineered a 100' Aerial Tower Fire Truck..........

100' Aerial Tower Fire Truck?
That had to be one hell of a job.
My respect and hat's off to you for being on the front line as a first responder.

(36,130 posts)The DOJ will NOT do its job -- the AG will not do HIS job -- if they won't prosecute high crimes. "Let the people decide" is a cop out and fake justice. It was the crap excuse used by the Senate, maybe, but it can't be used by the AG or DOJ.

(8,844 posts)waiting for the Mueller investigation............He sort of soft balled all of the incriminating evidence he gathered, soft pedaling the whole thing.
I think Mueller knew just how bad the information was that he compiled, and being a lifetime Republican he just couldn't bear taking down the entire Republican Party forever more. That's my opinion..........

Just repeating what I heard Michael Cohen say, and he should know about getting thrown under the bus.

Otherwise, the Justice Dept. needs to be re-named.

(32,705 posts)I'm sure they assumed they'd be successful in crowning Chump as "President for Life" and therefore they would be rewarded for their efforts.
It never occurred to them they were (a) breaking the law and (b) would be held accountable. Here's the biggie: (c) once they'd failed, Chump would no longer have pardoning power, and their goose is cooked.
Lock these stupid assholes up!

What scum the guy is, it is amazing the voters in his state did not listen to his family's warnings, but then again those may have been considered attributes for his base.

Making phone calls & sending texts is not illegal & when we start saying someone should be locked up because they had phone conversations or exchanged texts (without knowing what was discussed) we have become what we claim to hate.

reACTIONary
(5,771 posts)... that would be kept in mind. I don't find it remarkable that a political operative who is planning a rally for a political party would be talking to some politicians of that party.
These are certainly facts worth understanding in a legislative enquiry, but there is nothing in the public record as of yet which would implicate them in a crime.
So far, the only criminal conspiracy that is evident is the proud boys and the oath keepers. And they are being prosecuted.

Liz Cheney smacked GOP Rep. Jim Jordan's hand away when he tried to escort her during the
Capitol riot, telling him,'You fucking did this.'
If proven to be true why should any of these people be allowed to sit in Congress. They supported a violent coup whose
purpose it was might have been the killing the Speaker of the House and the Vice President, cause massive violence and
bloodshed, in order to allow Trump to declare martial law in and stop the Constitutionally mandated peaceful change of power.

What intrigues me is how Matt Gaetz seems to have vanished from this particular guilty zone. Either hes REALLY good at laying low, or hes been all bluster without backing it up. Maybe hes the type who just talks a good game? Or maybe hes just a nogoodnik whos REALLY stealthy about covering his tracks.
