https://www.syracuse.com/coronavirus/2021/12/syracuse-mother-and-adult-son-with-covid-19-die-minutes-apart-at-crouse-hospital.htmlSyracuse, N.Y. A 64-year-old woman and her 30-year-old son - who both had Covid-19 - died a few minutes apart this week in Syracuse.
Jacqueline A. Alpeter and James C. Alpeter III, who both lived in Syracuse, died Tuesday while being treated at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, according to their joint obituary.
So saddened by the sudden passing of Jackie Alpeter and son Jimmy within minutes of each other, James Roger Farley wrote on Facebook on Thursday. Farley is former pastor of Family Worship Center in Clay. Pastored the Alpeter family for over 50 years. Covid is demonic.
A classmate of James Alpeter, husband of Jacqueline and father of James III, commented Tuesday on Facebook that they both had died of Covid.
Our hearts are wrenching and our prayers (are) for you brother, the man wrote.
Farley, contacted by Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard Friday, declined to comment on the two deaths. The Alpeter family declined Friday to discuss the deaths, other than to say they died after a brief illness.
Jacqueline posted in June a photo of herself with these words around it: Im not having the vaccine. My body, My choice. In May she posted a photo of herself and the words I trust my immune system not an experimental vaccine. My DNA, My Choice.
Jacqueline worked at Syracuse University from 1983 to 2009, according to her obituary. She was listed as library technician in the universitys library, according to Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard archives.
James III was a graduate of East Syracuse Minoa High School in 2011, the obituary said.
"Covid is demonic."
No, Pastor Farley. It's just a virus (humans are made up of trillions of viruses*) that is highly likely to replicate itself and wreck havoc in your unvaccinated parishioners who contract it. Spread the word from a science book why don't ya? You might literally help save a life or two.

*Scientists' rapidly expanding knowledge makes it clear that we are not made up primarily of human cells that are occasionally invaded by microbes; our body is really a superorganism of cohabitating cells, bacteria, fungi and most numerous of all: viruses.

(1,939 posts)intentional suicide when you get right down to it.
If they are insured, does their insurance pay death benefits?
If I put a gun to my head and pull the trigger or intentionally drive off a bridge or into a tree my insurance won't pay benefits to my dependents. They may not even pay funeral costs.
These things are going to sky rocket the costs of health care and insurance for the rest of us.
PoindexterOglethorpe
(28,493 posts)Many simply have a two or three year exclusion of benefits for suicide, after which the dependents/survivors will get the insurance.
And it's really not that an increase in health care costs will occur, but that so many are leaving direct patient care because of this.

(28,493 posts)if they had so little trust in science, then what the fuck were either of them doing in a hospital? Trust your immune system? Then stay home and let the hospital care for those who truly deserve care. I'm heartily sick of reading about someone having a heart attack, going to the local emergency room, but having to wait in a hallway for two or three days while unvaccinated idiots get care.

(20,591 posts)of sorts. When you get sick to the point of having difficulty drawing a breath of air, and all of your prayers fail you, science becomes the very next, and only, recourse. Their god had forsaken them. Science becomes your new god almost instantaneously.
Yes, they both made their own choice, but far too late for science to help.

There's going to be a crush of new entrants in the next few months, after the holidays conclude, and the virus starts reaping souls at an unheard of pace.
More job opportunities. They'll have to hire more help just to keep up with the new names.

(18,619 posts)their belief God will protect them from the Covid-19 virus, not man-made vaccines. Their obstinacy reminds me of the parable of the drowning man, a story about a devoutly Christian man who refuses several rescue attempts in the face of rising floodwaters, each time telling his would-be rescuers "God will save me." After turning down the last rescue effort, the man drowns in the flood.
After his death the man stands before God and asks why he allowed him to die. God responds that he sent all the rescuers to the man's aid, but he refused the help. Covid vaccines are God's way of helping these folks, but they're too stupid to realize it.

(28,493 posts)but hardly anyone even winds up in hospital. In South Africa, hospitalizations dropped dramatically with Omicron. So perhaps some have died, but nothing like the numbers with Delta.

I have a dental appointment on Tuesday, and am nervous about it.
Both of us have had our boosters.
This is not going to be a bad "cold season" by any stretch of the imagination.
On edit- sorry- forgot to add my link: https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2021/12/18/7-deaths-from-omicron-covid-19-coronavirus-variant-in-uk-showing-its-not-the-omicold/?sh=402bc7d52023

(28,493 posts)And even if I'm wrongly underplaying Omicron's severity, I am not at all saying it's like a cold. Covid is not a cold, even in its mildest form.
