Shouldn't we codify the procedure for certification of the Presidential Election while we can?

The GQP seems to think they have found loopholes in the certification process.

Shouldn't we lay out a specific procedure, in a law, that would plug all of these supposed "holes"?

That way, even though it will surely end up in Court, we can point to specific legislation in case of future ginned up certification "controversies".

I think if we use the spectre of Kamala Harris controlling the next certification we could get some Republican support.

I'm not sure why we have to wait until then; but this is another in a long list of things which Congress did not act on in 2021. I'm not optimistic anything will get done in 2022 because it is an election year. We're living in sad times.

They know perfectly well that Harris isn't going to try something like that.

I doubt that Ivanka will scare them off from that.

Do you think Sinamanchin will be moved by that prospect?

If we put it to a vote, we will KNOW, one way or another. We won’t have to guess.

The Constitution already spells out how States select the electors and the process of counting them is in there as well. What holes need to be plugged?
