(24,971 posts)FINALLY. This is where it's all seemed to be heading. Sinema must be feeling a release of the pressure too.
Defenders? Anybody? Bueller?
Hope he gets a visit from some ghosts on Christmas Eve.

He was never going to vote for this no matter what Progressives did or said and it's been pretty apparent for a while now. He and Sinema got the BIF and that's all that mattered to them. Not even a freaking vote on BBB.

Lets move on to try to bring along a senator or two from the states that are facing a hell scape after the tornadoes. Their constituents will be begging for deliverables.

I have. It creates a LOT OF PRESSURE TO DELIVER RESULTS.

(23,018 posts)Cover all the damage. Why do they need the BBB? These voters have a very strong track record of voting against their own interest.
All McConnell has to say is the S word.

That is how the whole thing works, Fox news and OAN will talk nonstop about how Biden personally made the checks stop just to fuck them over.

(4,131 posts)Our progressive wing warned us repeatedly that this would be the outcome. The moderates just betrayed Joe Biden after all his hard work on BBB.
Nixie
(18,007 posts)silver platter. That was evident months ago by Joe and Bernie relishing the public fighting so much. The BIF should not have been held up for their media fights.

(4,131 posts)There's no way. It's got to be satire.
Nixie
(18,007 posts)It was months of this. It should not have been such a media event. That just gave Manchin a chance to build a better mouse trap. It's such a shame.
Now THAT is grade A satire!
Of course it isn't his fault that he betrayed the country, betrayed Joe Biden, betrayed the party, and that he chose to kill Build Back Better. It is the fault of the progressives, of course!
Nixie
(18,007 posts)he took a calculated risk based on election results, and we know how that turned out.
PTWB
(4,131 posts)They were right.
Nixie
(18,007 posts)own special reasons?
Manchin took his own special reasons and ran with them. So he wasn't the only one. The rest of us just saw the damage unfolding on TV -- for months. It's a real shame all the way around for the rest of us.
PTWB
(4,131 posts)We were promised that the bills would be tied together. When that promise was broken, these courageous representatives could not, in good conscience, vote for BIF knowing that BBB would die at the hands of the right wing extremists.
Nixie
(18,007 posts)something done by passing the BIF -- and quit the damaging public display of Democrats fighting.
Today doesn't seem like the best day to make the argument that giving up our leverage to advance the BBB was a wise decision, given the current events.
We could all use some levity after the "moderates" killed the BBB. Here's a cute baby gif to lighten things up!

Nixie
(18,007 posts)been done months ago. Its a shame Manchin was given too much wiggle room to argue in the media. That was a strategic mistake.
PTWB
(4,131 posts)The strategic mistake was passing BIF without BBB because it removed our leverage to pass BBB. We could have had both of them if we'd listened to the progressive wing but, alas, mistakes were made.
And we'll be paying for those mistakes in 2022 and 2024. Ceding control over the BBB to the "moderates" is going to cost us dearly.
Nixie
(18,007 posts)correctable, thanks to Pelosi putting an end to it.
PTWB
(4,131 posts)I'm so glad that you feel like things are corrected.
STOP THE PRESSES EVERYONE! 2022 and 2024 are going to be fine because RB thinks so.
Nixie
(18,007 posts)were compromised.
PTWB
(4,131 posts)But BIF would have passed anyway. The only leverage we had to pass BBB was binding it to BIF. Splitting them removed the leverage. Progressives warned that BBB would be killed by "moderates" and, sure enough, we were right.

You shouldn't reward folks with federal money if they don't really want it after all.
