NEWS: White House feels blindsided by @Sen_JoeManchin’s decision that he’s a “no” on Build Back Better.

Just days ago, Manchin personally handed @POTUS a $1.8 trillion plan he would support, I’m told.

In interview with @BretBaier today, Manchin said “I can't get there.”

McConnell getting what he wanted for Christmas. He said killing BBB would be best Christmas present for America and repeatedly urged Manchin to do just that.

This is not the political climate of 50 years ago, Joe. Trust no one and be prepared to fight fire with fire. There is no civility anymore — hard lesson to learn, especially with BBB.

Kumbaya moments went out a long time ago. I get why the administration wanted to keep talks going with him. But it’s always been clear that Manchin is a back-stabber, not to be trusted, and he should have been seen and treated as such.

Manchin needs to be shown the door. He has made Biden look weak and foolish. Unforgivable.

right there in the well of the Senate, so no one should be surprised.

He made it really clear that he wanted the infrastructure bill and nothing else, ever.

One man can hold the rest of the Congress and the President hostage.

That man used to be Moscow Mitch...the authoritarians are laughing all the way to the bank.

The White House will have a statement on Manchin’s remarks on @FoxNewsSunday later today. Manchin informed the White House and Democratic leadership of what he would say in advance of the interview, according to a person familiar with his conversations.

Another person confirms that the White House and leadership were informed of what Manchin was about to do, but it was a staffer who relayed his intentions, and only about 30 minutes before the Fox was [News] interview.
