he'll just be another member of the senate. His fifteen minutes would end.

He's obviously decided to let this be his footnote in American history. In a year or two all of it will be lost in climate change.

DINO in a red state, the Turtle has to be itching to get his old job back, tfg would like nothing better than to stop the investigation into jan. 6, a million other reasons.

Perhaps Kinzinger and Chenny will jump ship to keep the investigation going???

There are obviously things going on tha we don't know....

He’s been good about confirming Biden’s picks so far. I hate him too but it would be terrible if he became a Republican.

He'll be just another senator, and one the GOP won't trust, since he's just a plutocrat and not a full-on Trumper. As a putative Democrat in a split senate he has lots of power - arguably all of it - and gets to make the news and have his ass kissed on a daily basis. If he switched he'd be an unimportant nobody from an unimportant state.

He does not need to switch parties - he has more power right where he is.

The 1% Authoritarians KNOW this and planned it.

I am so fucking pissed right now- all the hard work of t he past 18 months has been rendered moot by this fucking asshole.

Sen Joe Manchin is an ASSHOLE. A TRAITOR. A LIAR. May he and his legacy rot in hell.

Sure, he doesn't have the title of Senate Majority Leader, but Schumer doesn't have the power that comes with that title. And by allowing Manchin and Sinema to continue scuttling the party's agenda, Schumer never will.

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Let’s say Democrats pick up one Senate seat in 2022, despite the red state election changes and everything else. (Note: we are currently predicted to pick up two, but that is a real stretch given all the election changes).

Then, that means Sinema’s block of filibuster reform is over and Manchin’s and Sinema’s hold over the Dems is gone.

But if Manchin goes R or even independent and caucuses with R’s on this, then Biden’s agenda is entirely sunk and the Voting Rights bill to undo all the extreme measures for R’s to maintain control in over elections is dead. Which means we lose all three branches come 2024.
