Manchin Appreciation Thread
Appreciation towards Manchin for giving fellow Democrats Election '22 advice: ("fellow" used very loosely)
If you want Biden's agenda to passed, elect more Liberals, because you sure as fuck aren't getting those votes from me. (Well OK, I added that last part, but you know that's what he meant.) BUT, to all my fellow Democrats out there, let's take him up on his advice!!!!

Currently he can do more damage as a Dem. Flip to a R and he would need to work harder for the money.

16. It will always be a threat and at some point he will pull the trigger
But that will be at a time when he and his handlers can inflict the MOST damage to Dems.
We have seen this game played before, this is the third time I can think of off the top of my head. Dems allow a person to damage the agenda, maximize exposure, stop legislation and bash Democrats. In the previous two instances, the person switched to maximize the impact right around the time of the Repuke National Convention. Same bullshit, Dems are doing great harm to the Nation, I didn't leave the Dem Party, the Party left me,...... And ends up getting HUGE airtime on all cable and networks. At some point the Dems need to go bold, go big or go home. |

17. The Republicans won't want him to switch...
If he does, it can be framed as “Republicans obstructing Biden’s agenda.” Now, it’s “Biden couldn’t even pass his plan, even with a Democrat Party majority in Congress.” Heads, they win; tails, we lose.

19. It is unlikely, because he will never have the power he has now with the republicans. If we are
able to gain at least a majority of at least two seats in the Senate in 2022, that may change

The radicals in the rethug party would destroy him. And he knows that.

23. Then it's time to take the vote now. This week, before leaving DC.
Make Manchin finish thrusting the knife in the back of his President and Democratic colleagues so that everyone who loses their monthly childcare payments knows fully well who did it - and that it WAS NOT “Biden” (when the lies start coming).
Then go campaign on electing the Senators in the states in 2022 that Democrats need for a clear Senate majority if the voters want to ever see their childcare tax payments restored. Between losing childcare credits, women losing control of their bodies, and losing democracy, Democrats have some things to talk about to the voters. |

12. Agree. But therin lies the Challenge to Dems!!
We just have to work harder to GOTV!!!
I think we have great shot at keeping the Senate even without Manchin's vote. Some longshot states such as Florida, Ohio, and even Missouri (OK, I stretch on that last one) but very doable to get to 52 in Senate. BUT the House is going to be tough tough tough to keep. But it can be done. GOTV Dems!!!! |

10. In a way you are correct
He is saying to the country, to Democrats, there is no consensus on moving the party left, we will be admonished severely if we do, denounced as communists, so you're going to have to prove something at the voting booth to make this happen because I'm not signing off on it.
Look on the bright side. The right is spent, it has shot its load with TFG, there is no upside for the right except voter suppression and gerrymandering both of which are falsely derived power. Unsustainable. Who wants to enact legislation, then get booted from office, and have it all repealed? So Democrats have work to do. |
