Sun Dec 19, 2021, 09:01 PM
Dec 2021

They said NO to BIF & saying NO to their constituents back home.
Manchin said Yes to BIF and NO to BBB early on.

There should not have been any No votes, had they considered who that NO vote was ignoring. The people back home.

That's who Biden's bill was written for.
NOT the legislators to grandstand upon for months while we all waited for them to finish.

Everyone else who voted yes, managed to do so, for the people who Biden's bill was meant for.

The summer shit show we witnessed as we waited & waited, stalling it all, wasn't for the people back home. It was for themselves.

That's what their NO Votes said.
They knew damned well like everyone else in Congress that Manchin would never vote on the entire combined bill.
They knew it too

Wtf was a protest vote telling their communities as they stood & watched their streets flood.
Who are they there for if not the communities of their State.

37. What's this thing about "protest votes"? Before a year or so ago I never heard of that...

Dec 2021

Either a Representative or a Senator approves of what's in a bill or doesn't. That results in a Yea vote or a Nay vote.

As I've said elsewhere, it's one or the other - it's not a conditional vote, there's no text box on the electronic device they use to cast their votes, and it's not an essay question.

Vote on Bill XYZ:

Yea if you approve of what is in the bill
Nay if you don't approve of what's in the bill

If one votes Yea he/she is voting FOR the bill
If one votes Nay he/she is voting AGAINST the bill

Remember, prior to proceeding to a vote there's a debate of an hour, three hours, or whatever. THAT is the time to make points for or against a bill. THAT is the time to "protest" a bill.

Then just vote. Period.

38. What is the "conscience" aspect of voting against the bill. If she agreed with....
Mon Dec 20, 2021, 03:48 PM
Dec 2021

....what was in the bill but voted no, what about the bill was objectionable?

Did she not want to get the flooded subways in the Bronx repaired for her constituents?
Did she not want the Cross Bronx Expressway repaired to eliminate congestion and noxious emissions for her constituents?

Did either of those two aspects of the infrastructure bill concern her?

Remember, a big part of the "Green New Deal" is eliminating automobile exhaust and fumes.

So, what was it about THIS bill, the one that was being voted upon, that she disapproved of?

Except for a few people such as yourself who are being willfully disingenuous to deflect from the embarrassing behavior of Senator Manchin by trying to draw a parallel where none exists. She voted against the previous bill because she knew untethering the bills would lead to the delay and defeat of BBB. Seems she was quite prescient in that regard.

They all knew Manchin wasn't going to vote for BBB. The whole Congress knew it. That's why it was divided into 2 parts.
Every other Yes vote was done with the people of their communities in mind. How they would benefit.

They made a mockery of that necessity by stalling it for months, all the while knowing as the rest of Congress did, that Manchin was never going to agree on BBB.

They can stop spinning as tho they won something today.
They voted No & Manchin voted No.
That's where it ends up after the noise clears.
