Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSome talking heads understand it; some do not. But, the constant hand-wringing about
the "panic" of Democrats and the "collapse" of the Biden agenda all has the same effect: a subliminal urging to vote against the "losers" who have not totally cured America's ills in one year because no one wants to be on the "losing team"
The "trigger" words are carefully chosen and meant to ramp up anxiety and drive wedges between us.
Do not let these intellectual zombies think for you!

(11,285 posts)this administration is the epitome of 'functional' and getting things done - as compared to almost clownish ineptitude of it's predecessor. That is all.

(21,280 posts)started the narrative that president Biden was failing and a heck of a lot of people are falling for that nonsense. They even produced bogus polls to prove that President Biden is failing.
In president Biden's 1 year in office he is the best president I have ever seen, and I'm 74 years old.

(4,868 posts)We have armies of foreign and domestic enemies who want the Democrats to fail, and will constantly hammer us to destroy our solidarity and morale. This is a war for democracy and justice for all Americans, and we must keep fighting, and resist attempts to destroy our morale.
Historically, periods of great social and economic upheaval have led to rebuilding better.
- The Black Plague led to the collapse of the serf system.
- The Civil War led to emancipation, and the arduous struggle for equity and justice for African Americans that continues today.
- During WWII, Londoners endured night after night of bombing that leveled the city. Then they rose from the ashes.
As awful as these periods were, people found the will to survive and rebuild better societies. This is one of those times. We cannot give up the fight.
I keep a picture of John Lewis getting his head bashed in during one of his many marches as a symbol of what courage looks like in the face of diversity. It gives me strength that we can survive this.
But we cannot allow the media, disinformation, and domestic sabotage to spoil our will to fight for something better. We are the people that we've been waiting for.

(548 posts)True - and then instituted the British welfare state. In the U.S., it was the G.I. Bill and the highway system that started the modern consumer economy.
Pademics and world wars have something alike: they are won less by supergeniuses than ordinary people doing tedious things over and over. How do you make them do that? Promise them a BETTER world than before. Not the same, BETTER.

(9,895 posts)and sadly that will matter 0% in November.
The mushy "center" is (IMHO) comprised almost entirely of people who cannot or will not think for themselves and are easily swayed by perception and horse-race coverage...which is why that is the only coverage of politics in the MSM ever since Watergate.
In a world where so many are "influenced" by social media and its inanity, its no wonder that we are as screwed as we are...

It is true that some of the COVID events have no doubt exacerbated the situation, but, it was promised and has arrived.

This should be the rallying point for Democrats to pull together and move forward like a steamroller, crushing Republican opposition and winning the midterms in a landslide.

(3,491 posts)Generate anger among the (Republican) faithful and dismay in the opposition. Dismayed and frustrated voters tend to not show up at the pols. Very similar reaction amongst TFG supporters in the GA Senate 2020 elections.
Even if you're frustrated at this point you still need to show up on election day. Convincing yourself that you're voting for a lost cause tends to be a self fulfilling prophesy especially if you don't bother to vote.
I'll give credit to the Repubs, they sure know how to motivate their base and hide their preferences from pollsters. Not answering pollsters has basically hidden their impact and caused a lot of surprises over the last few election cycles.

(1,402 posts)It's frightening to think that MSM is trying to mold our thoughts and behaviors, but after the election of 2016, I can't imagine any democrat taking these talking heads seriously. This both siderisming would be laughable if it weren't obvious. It's a big slap in the face to our intelligence, that MSM would think we take them seriously, IMHO

(7,600 posts)The entire BBB story they are telling is the failure of the administration and Democratic senators to win over two Democrats. The failure of 50 Republicans to offer a single vote is ignored as irrelevant to the story they are determined to tell.

(16,926 posts)It is so easy to enhance anxiety, when there is so much to worry about. My solution is to limit listening to news. It is fine to hear headlines, maybe some in-depth a couple times a day. If you put the tv or radio on a station and rip off the knob, you are not only getting t.m.i., but allowing the negative messages to brainwash you.
I try to concentrate on the positive-my family and loved ones are vaccinated and boosted, we are not wanting, and can help others in need. We all have wonderful family and friends. Since 2016, I have said goodbye to people who supported traitor, and overthrow of our country and also people who refuse to get vaccinated. My universe is a fool's paradise, but that's fine by me.
Happy holidays, Atticus I always read your sensible outlook that we can take to heart!
That's exactly how I've chosen to live my life. A daily diet of today's t.v. news is extremely bad for people. They may not realize it is, but it absolutely is. It seeps into your psyche and one day you find yourself in a place where you don't even recognize yourself any longer. I refuse to spend the remaining years of my life giving it over to the daily drumbeat of "Democrats are in disarray" messaging.
Love the way you state "my universe is a fool's paradise". If that's what I've chosen to do, well then, so be it.

(1,910 posts)Democrats on every level, currently in office, running for office, DNC chair, every voter, must demand over and over again specific and written policies from every Repug candidate and office holder. Every media interview point out that the other side MUST present its concrete ideas. Press the media to demand it from both parties, not just Dems.
What are you specific, detailed, and written ideas on the economy, inflation, Covid, climate, health care, high tech education, SS funds running out, etc?
These dirt balls can not keep getting by with zero policy ideas and simply being against everything and igniting culture wars.

(210 posts)Remember how last week the opinionators began saying that the atmosphere was changing, people were starting to pay attention, it was beginning to look like the planners and orchestrators of 1/06 would be getting serious attention? Trump on the loose with OReilly was getting nowhere. So they played the Manchin card. BBB is done. Instead of strong and unified, Democrats are looking confused and ineffectual. The narrative turns on a dime. Lets all talk about the end of Bidens presidency instead of the perfidy of Trump. Hard to believe it wasnt planned.
