Got boostered today!
Was waiting on the VA but after an ineffectual phone call I decided to head down to my local Rite-Aid. Pretty quick and easy.

They were damn good in the initial roll-out, but though I've seen some ink in their emails about "getting ready for boosters" I've not seen a lot of real movement. They obviously don't want to do it like the first go-around.
It's all by appointment only where I live. My husband couldn't get his booster Monday like he wanted to. Tried to book appointments with with some pharmacies and without any luck. He'll be getting it on the 30th at a drive up site set up by the health department. Apparently there's a high demand and a limited supply of the vaccine in our area.

But my bro went to that pharmacy yesterday and just walked in, so I gave it a try today and it worked.
You got lucky. 
you never know. Maybe they have cancellations or no-shows and have extra doses. Once they thaw them out they have to use them or toss them after a few hours.
Just a suggestion. 
I'd suggest it but he's probably tired of dealing with it and will keep his appointment. Thanks for the suggestion though.
