Was waiting on the VA but after an ineffectual phone call I decided to head down to my local Rite-Aid. Pretty quick and easy.

(31,220 posts)Didn't hear from the VA so I got my booster 2 months ago at Costco.

(58,721 posts)They were damn good in the initial roll-out, but though I've seen some ink in their emails about "getting ready for boosters" I've not seen a lot of real movement. They obviously don't want to do it like the first go-around.

(31,220 posts)encouraged vets to go outside of the system. I have no problem with that...they'll catch up pretty quickly. My first two doses were well organized and very efficient.

(11,636 posts)It's all by appointment only where I live. My husband couldn't get his booster Monday like he wanted to. Tried to book appointments with with some pharmacies and without any luck. He'll be getting it on the 30th at a drive up site set up by the health department. Apparently there's a high demand and a limited supply of the vaccine in our area.

(58,721 posts)most places wanted to book me at the end of January!
But my bro went to that pharmacy yesterday and just walked in, so I gave it a try today and it worked.

(58,721 posts)you never know. Maybe they have cancellations or no-shows and have extra doses. Once they thaw them out they have to use them or toss them after a few hours.
Just a suggestion.

(11,636 posts)I'd suggest it but he's probably tired of dealing with it and will keep his appointment. Thanks for the suggestion though.
