I told him if he was not vaccinated that was a deal breaker.
He's losing business thanks to his stupid stance.
Wasted time talking to him until I remembered to mention our requirement.

My husband shrugged a sad but permanent goodbye to his longtime haircutter friend when he popped his head in to ask if she was masking and she angrily told him no and she never would. Guessing he wasn't the first to ask. Average vaccination rate in this county's about 50% but goes waay up in our age group.

(12,904 posts)We actually made them write masks required on the contract.
They will not be allowed inside if they show up unmasked.

(3,462 posts)We're not making anyone wear a mask as the door from the house to the kitchen has been covered with plywood so we have very little contact with the workers. They do wear masks while doing some of their tasks as to not get dust and particles in their lungs. I'm not at all worried about possibly getting COVID from any of the workers. Fully vaxed and boosted here. With Omicron, I believe we are all going to get it now and hopefully the vaxes will save us.

(9,054 posts)Had a few things done, private and corporate, and they always had masks on, even before Delta and Omicron. Delivery people all have masks.
Had Comcast peoples out the last two days, and they wore masks.
It's nice not to worry about it, especially in one's home.

(17,421 posts)I called the owner of the company prior to them coming.
I requested the following, and he delivered:
1) Please do not send anyone who has not been vaccinated
2) Please do not send anyone who is openly a Tru*p supporter
3) Please explain to your staff the risks that my household is subject to
4) Please tell your staff that you expect them to be properly masked at all times. No dick noses, no bandanna masks, no mask removal to "get some air".

that was great that you were clear on what you needed/required
i look at it this way--people aren't mind readers. if you don't tell them they won't know.

(17,421 posts)He's a good guy and I felt like I could talk to him.
All worked out very well.
He has some great people working for him.

Sorry, not good enough.
This is in a state that's ~90% vaccinated.

Interestingly Rhode Island is #1 highest daily new cases per capita, 7 day moving average, and Vermont is #12.
Vaccinations are great at keeping people out of hospitals and morgues, but not as well at preventing infections

(6,582 posts)Thankfully I don't have to deal with "cold call" multiple bidder jobs. I develop long term relationships with my customers & end up doing all their work for years, with the exception of things that require heavy equipment like grading & site prep, or things I don't feel like doing any more like new roofs (did it in my younger years, at my age I'm happy to let the young ones do it now). All my new customers come via word of mouth referrals from existing customers & I don't advertise, I'm booked up for months with all the work I can handle.
In my years in the business one thing I've learned is that the best contractors don't have to advertise or participate in things like Home Advisor where they have to pay for leads (yes, contractors have to pay Home Advisor for leads), the quality & value of their work speaks for itself & they get all the work they can handle via referrals from satisfied customers.

(17,421 posts)I use an electrician and plumber that do not advertise at all. They are the best in the area.
Whenever I see these companies take out two page Yellow Book ads, I think:
1) If I use this company, I'm going to be paying for their ad.
2) They are not a new company, so their work must suck so bad that they have no word of mouth business.
