(38,958 posts)and given a General Court Martial. He is a disgrace.
We need to start making an example of these people. Letting insurrectionists go on vacation? Giving them lighter sentences for breaking & entering into OUR capitol building, carrying a confederate flag FFS, than BLM protestors?
No wonder they're emboldened. Bannon's out there talking about taking over the electoral process & has at least until next July to continue to beat that drum every day. JFC.
Is our side even awake? We'll be lucky if half the people who voted for Biden in 2020 show up in 2022.
I told myself I wouldn't panic until sometime around February, but damn, it's hard. We didn't just vote for roads & bridges, we voted for accountability. "Watergate took years," we're told. "Be patient." We don't have years! We have until next year. If we lose either chamber nothing will get done & if we lose both we're probably sunk. They will ratfuck their way into a permanent one-party-rule.

I know a lot of us are getting frustrated and impatient would like to see things handled differently, but it seems to me that a lot of the things you mentioned are completely outside our control. Sentencing, for example, is decided by judges with input from prosecutors. Setting Bannon's trial so far out? Also a judge. Etc.
I feel like the people making the above-mentioned decisions are "they," not a "we" that I am part of. The fact of the matter is, "we" are sitting on the sidelines while people "we" have no power over are making decisions that "we" can't help but feel strongly about. That is indeed frustrating, but it is what it is.
Personally, watching all this legal stuff play out sort of feels like watching a movie (albeit one with serious consequences) to me. I know how I want it to turn out, but all I can do is watch and hope. I'm not going to give up and walk out before it's over, because I don't know what's going on "off camera" or how many plot twists there may be before the credits roll.
I live by the serenity prayer: "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." I realize that won't work for everyone, but it helps me a lot.

(8,178 posts)that it hasn't happened is concerning. no consequences encourages more to do the same,
and there is a high likelihood for us to be dealing with a lot more of these military traitors in the near future.

(10,749 posts)Though I know we'll never have the answer.
Is anyone investigating Flynn for any illegal, treasonous, or questionable behavior he engaged in while he was TFG's national security adviser and, before that, while he was Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency under Obama?
His insane, erratic behavior over the last five years - or maybe over the last 7 years since he left DIA - doesn't come out of nowhere. One doesn't wake up one day and become an actual, bona fide nutjob.
What damage has he done that we don't know about (at least we the general public)? Sounds like a job for James Risen and others who are well connected within US intelligence, or at least have been over the years.

(25,048 posts)Of course, that meant that Trump had to hire Flynn since he hated President Obama so much he would automatically do the opposite of whatever the former President suggested, even if he was right.
Perhaps President Obama should have used some reverse psychology with Trump and told him that Flynn was the best person for the job. It would have guaranteed that Trump wouldn't have hired him.
What I don't understand is what happened when Flynn was on trial. The judge in that case was appalled by what he was learning about Flynn's-- and his son's-- activities such that he demanded further cooperation from Flynn with the government. Thanks to the delays and Trump's interference, Flynn skated away from serious prison time. How was that allowed to happen?
Meanwhile, where is the Pentagon with this traitor? One would think they would want to make it transparent that the military must obey the civilian leadership and follow the oath to the Constitution. Is there so much dissension in the ranks that the brass are afraid of the backlash should they recall Flynn to duty and then court martial him? It's puzzling.

(13,538 posts)they both wanted the Air Force chief to be Chairman. And since they made their preference known, trump picked Milley just to show them he was boss.

He was busted talking to the Russians and then lying to the FBI about it, even before Trump was sworn into office.
No one believes this traitor has changed his stripes.

(294 posts)Flynn's lawsuit was dismissed on procedural grounds, and he was given a change to refile. The court did not address the merits. That's hardly tantamount to saying he lost his legal challenge to the Jan 6 Committee.
I'm just as anxious as the rest of you to see Flynn swatted down, but I'm also a stickler for accuracy.

(55,334 posts)These Trumpy feebs are so invested in the idea that the law doesn't apply to them, that they don't apply themselves to making serious arguments before the law.
I have to wonder if they're hiring lawyers who are seriously too stupid to make compelling arguments or if they're hiring lawyers as avaricious as themselves and thus who have no ethical problems with taking their Trumpy money and then presenting unwinnable cases in court just for the paycheck.

(13,013 posts)the decision only refused an emergency restraining order. I expect the House Committee to file a motion to dismiss. At that point, Flynn's lawyers will be allowed to file a Response. Under the best of circumstances, it will take a few weeks for the case to be tossed out.

That way we don't need to waste resources if he is acquitted.
If he had nothing to hide why is he trying to hide info.
He has a right to a speedy trial in front of a jury.
