Some Christmas cards showed up in my snailmail box. Not surprising, given the season. On one of them the return address showed the sender to be an old friend from high school days, but it was addressed to the apartment I moved out of nearly three years ago. There was no yellow forwarding sticker, nothing scratched out, no writing indicating 'not at this address'.
In this neighborhood, in a city where 98% of elected positions are held by GOPers, our letter carriers want us to know that they are no fans of their ultimate boss; unlike their counterparts at FedEx and UPS, they have no trouble bringing parcels to my door. And at the post office, the counter help is unfailingly courteous and thorough (even when they are understaffed).
So, here's to my letter carriers, and to all of them who still do their best in spite of the guy at the top. Thank you!

(6,929 posts)We talk with her when we can, we let her vent on the struggles. She says they have ruined a job that she loved.
She has had injuries from her work, she gets complaints that are irrational.
She once passed by when I was sitting in a flower bed weeding and backed up and turned around to make sure I was OK and had not fallen.
She is just the kind of employee that is needed for this job and they are running her down with stress and physical problems.
