@BarackObama
I thought I knew Green Eggs and Ham better than most people, but at Kimball Elementarys vaccination site earlier this month I finally met my match.

(2,926 posts)He has so many good qualities- one of my favorites is how he has a great sense of humor and can laugh at himself.
He is simply VERY Presidental and Michelle was a wonderful First Lady.

(11,767 posts)He is at ease because he loves them. He sees the humanity, the hope, the potential. He sees them not a props, but as people that are craving connection.
He and Biden are two of the most empathetic politicians in the last 30 years. Bill Clinton had that skill as well, but he was, in my opinion, not quite as sincerely there for the people in the moment. There was a tiny bit of weirdness with Bill that is not there with Obama and Biden.

It still makes me sick thinking about it 5 years later.

(19,439 posts)At least we had President Kennedy for those special years when he was in office. With Bobby, we were deprived of the whole experience.
I always had the impression that Bobby knew the evil he was up against and would have dealt with it even more adamantly than John did.
The side that killed them has never stopped trying to bring about the criminal fascist takeover of the United States, and the world.
electric_blue68
(26,856 posts)He was actually a gentle and empathetic child but his dad hated that so he hid that side of himself and toughened up.
After he lost JFK that side of him began to reemerge.
My mom who hated HUAC/Joe McCarthy where RFK had been a part of wached Bobby as started to campaign for the Presidency and said, "he's changed.".
He marched as previously being NYS Senator in our NYC '68 Greek parade. I decided since I wasn't a big fan of parades at that point, and the time of yrar can be gray, rainy, still coldish -
I'd see him wh n he'd come to NYC for the NYS Primary.

(18,613 posts)The first POTUS from my generation.
I felt a special kinship with him just from his writings and TV appearances.
I can't see another politician like him out there right now.
Some on the Left gave him a hard time but he maintained rigid ethical policies in his gov't and really was fair and kept partisanship mostly to the side. He is/was a man "well above" the office.
