Really, msnbc needs to show Andrea the door [but they won't]!!
@SecretaryPete
Shelves are stocked.
Retailers anticipate their best year ever.
That's because workers, businesses - and our President & administration - stepped up.

Chyron across MSNBC screen this morning with Andrea Mitchell screams EMPTY SHELVES literally right after President Biden said the shelves are all stocked at 90% and pre-pandemic they were at 91%. What a misleading headline. MSM will not give him a break.

(6,606 posts)I think it's time for her to leave MSNBC and spend more time with her hubby Alan Greenspan, who has made a career of hurting the economy's under Democratic Presidency's may they both rot in hell.

(80,726 posts)for my moms two cats. fall and late fall I had lots of problems finding canned food. They only share one can once a day as a treat--otherwise they eat meow mix.
anyway, last 3 weeks or so, no problem finding the canned stuff.

(7,037 posts)I was at a suburban mall on the northside yesterday, both the major department stores were overflowing with merchandise and have already started dropping prices to get it out the door. I'm not much of an Amazon shopper but had a couple of gift certifictes and if there's a problem with the supply chain, well, I got both of my orders within the week. The lobby of our apartment building is stacked with boxes.
Price of gas at the station across the street has dropped 20 cents in the past week.

I can get 90% of the items on my grocery list no problem.

(132,215 posts)my kit's wet food, despite the canned cat foot shortages.
But then, I also know that our supermarkets have basically three days worth of inventory. . .sooo, any interruption, like a blizzard, tornado, winds that flip semis, could affect that.
Please retire, andrea. You embarrass yourself.

(9,647 posts)Listen you %^$^, the free trade policies your husband advocated caused a lot more economic hardship than a shelf empty of ho-ho's.

(3,457 posts)It's simply a tactic (ruse?) to justify jacking up prices. If anyone has been on any interstate highway lately they will notice like I have that they are still choked with big rigs in both directions. Just like they have been for the last 30 years.

(42,770 posts)All in all the shelves are not empty.
Although for the last year and a half there have been items that I bought all the time that have never been back.
I was in a big grocery store yesterday and they had absolutely no ground black pepper. I thought that was really weird. No Dixie cups. Just a sign that they were experiencing problems. No Meow Mix. There are things missing but the shelves are not empty.

(5,480 posts)There's a tightness in the supply chain that wasn't there in the 80s when I worked at a supermarket. We would have made sure we had extra stock in the back to avoid it then, but now it's sop. The numbers don't lie, the only surprise here is in Mitchell's brain, as she doesn't look like one of the shoppers of Walmart .
