A surefire way ...

... to persuade Trump-humpers to embrace the Democrats:

We start being more cruel, more corrupt, and more anti-democracy than the Repubs. We initiate legislation against Jews, Muslims, LGBTQers, and all people of colour, and start deporting activists who stand for un-American things like equality, justice, and the rule of law.

We expand the Supreme Court by adding justices who will declare the Constitution to be unConstitutional.

We agree to imprison teachers who teach science, math, and actual history, along with religious leaders who preach love, peace, and understanding - and all that other bullshit Jesus taught before a full collection plate replaced Christian dogma.

Biden starts holding rallies that only the unmasked/unvaccinated are allowed to attend, where he extols the virtues of violence, hatred and bigotry, featuring guest speakers who are so unhinged, they make Boebert and Taylor-Greene sound like the voice of sanity. He then announces that if he loses in 2024, it's proof that the election was rigged.

I am not really being sarcastic here. The fact is that the only things RWers and Trump-humpers will respond to at this point are the same things they've responded to for the past four-plus years - only more so - more intense, more violent, more unfettered from reality.

Unless we Democrats are as willing as Republicans to destroy our country by appealing to the lowest among us - the bigots, the racists, the proudly ignorant - we cannot hope to beat them at their own game.

Our only real hope is appealing to those who recognize what the GOP stands for, and are willing to stand against it.

Thus far, we are holding the line between what the RW wants to turn our nation into and what we know its true destiny needs to be.

As we move into 2022, remember to never give up, and never give in. And never stop believing that despite all odds, we will ultimately prevail.

Joe Biden's win in 2020 was proof that there are more of us than there are of them. In the moments of doubt and despair we may all experience in the year to come, let that reality sustain you, and encourage you to fight whatever battles need to be fought.
