(153,160 posts)Walker is a fucking dipshit
hlthe2b
(102,278 posts)could scarcely talk about football at UGA much less anything else, never completed a degree (though he lies about it now), and his ability to express himself and his intellect remains embarrassingly stunted. I guess he made money and apparently that is all that matters... I know most want to assume he suffers CTE. I'm not so sure. I think this is just Herschel.
I hope to hell his celebrity doesn't move the average GA independent or the few sane R voters.

(153,160 posts)my grandparents were among the smartest people I have known and they never even completed high school
Walker is a case of willful ignorance - the fact that he is a repuke, a party that celebrates racism, tells me everything I need to know about him.

(102,278 posts)I have met people the world over with minimal education--and particularly in the "third world"-- that would put many of us with advanced degrees to shame. But even those who are not inherently "smart" can develop their intellect with curiosity and "care to learn."

(102,278 posts)Legacy admissions, the privilege of $$$ and once there the tendency to CYA by passing them through. I recall George W. Bush* Harvard Business School professor saying as much.

I hope that yours was a good one.

(175,735 posts)One is vaccinated and boostered, and had it already in April of 2020. She's feeling much better after three days of feeling like she had a terrible cold. She was tested, so it's confirmed. No details on the other, but he's feeling okay.
It's important for the baby of the family to catch up to bigger siblings, so all is good.

(2,012 posts)It's PRECIOUS to encourage, but not encourage, but rather encourage, the legal people to vote BEFORE voting, but not while NOT being illegally trying to vote instead of doing something NOW; not before, not after, not now, but NOW. So go get the IDs and everything and vote now for Senator Lewis!

(7,206 posts)people who are legal to vote, which is everyone because no one is not legal, and get IDs now instead of when they're in line to vote then start talking about either IDs or voting (I'm not sure). Hell, I have no idea what he's talking about. I dare say, neither does he.

It's the same for any celeb - the celeb says:
I'm this or I'm that, and I'm a celebrity. This is how I vote.
Going after someone's idols is a poor strategy. Every vote counts.

(32,084 posts)Probably many multiple instances of it. Also the product of an educational system where football is the main religion, and lots of guys made it into college because they could play ball, but had no business there. otherwise.

(51,308 posts)Many of the football players were sent to us. I was gobsmacked at their lack of education.
The ones I tutored read at a third grade level, if that.

(32,084 posts)The academically-unqualified athletes weren't the only ones who shouldn't have been there. There were loads of "legacies" who were only admitted because Daddy went there, and was willing to pay a ton of money to get the kid in, regardless of whether they met entrance requirements. I was a teaching assistant in the Bio Sciences. I often wondered how some of my students ever got out of high school. Not all of them were like that, but enough to make one cringe.

(51,308 posts)I usually tutored English and various social science material.
But once they asked me to take over a math session for another tutor. I laughed because my math skills are atrocious. I remember the professor looking at me and saying, you can add and subtract, right? Of course I could, and he sadly assured me that was all Id need. So sad.

Hope he gets trampled by 40 percentage points or more. You have to be pretty damn stupid to vote for somebody that goofy.

(205,405 posts)Since even in that short speech he demonstrated how little he knows - Even about voting rights icon John Lewis! And just a few days before she played Raphael Warnock's Senate floor speech, then had him as a guest - and she suggested he may be our most eloquent senator.
