Whenever you have an opportunity to respond to it, say this: "Vote Brandon, 2024, thank you for your support." It'll confuse them at first - they're not the sharpest tacks - but once they realize they're promoting Biden in the next election they'll STFU.

(57,459 posts)I've seen it used in support of Biden. I've done so myself.
Regarding the guy in Oregon, I thought there might be a rare, rare chance that he was using the term ironically. The donations to Trump that are surfacing in the aftermath show that I was wrong.

(57,459 posts)When I hear it, I am reminded what a great country this is that someone can say that to the most powerful elected person on earth and not fear reprisals from the government.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
Biden should take that theme and make it his.

(5,897 posts)Kennedy and Khruschev are discussing the state of their countries. Kennedy says "In America we have freedom of speech. A man can walk up to me on the street and say, Kennedy, I don't like what you're doing to the country." Khruschev says, "In the USSR, we also have freedom of speech. A man can walk up to me and say, Khruschev, I don't like what Kennedy is doing to his country."
I'd love to see some snappy comeback to just shove it in their faces.

Also, Democrats need to co-opt the Gadsden Flag to make it representative of Anti-Republican positions.
The LGBTQ community should fly a hundred of them at parades so Trumpers will be afraid to fly them for fear that people will confuse them as liberals or LGBTQ. Not a Pride version of the flag, but the actual yellow Gadsden Flag. After a year or two, those yellow flags will disappear.

(4,986 posts)I've seen others here say Biden should use "Brandon, 2024." Coupled with this, that would be a disaster....

(32,084 posts)They spew it to "own the libs." And, I'm seeing a lot of "libs" letting these assholes do just that. As long as those ninnies can keep getting a rise out of Dems, that garbage isn't going away. Why keep feeding the beast?

(58,785 posts)Those who behave this way are what they are, and it's not stupid, it's some variety of low, mean, frightened, or just childish. When they dump this it'll be because they got bored with its "cleverness" and found something else.
"When they go low, we go high." And in that those who don't do low actually be a majority with those conservatives who don't think it's clever at all.

(163 posts)just own the deplorables phase. Each and everyone, including the president, should say "I am Brandon"
It only has meaning in GOP circles, not mainstream America.

President Sippy Cup was a new one, for me. Nevertheless, we could certainly turn it on its ear and apply it to trump.

(81,267 posts)Because it's really what they do with messaging - of ANYTHING - that galls me and gets me wanting to hit back as hard as I can find the - uh - I suppose you could say "strategic verbiage" to do it with. I always want our side of the "word-war" to be memorable, quick, amusing, repeatable, and needing no explanation to simply or ensure that others can easily "get" it.
Cuz if it's got a even a small tinge of funny or clever, it's more likely that somebody's gonna want to repeat it, because THEY think it's funny or clever, and worth sharing. And when something gets repeated, that's even more mileage it gets! Amplification! It's EVERYTHING!

(51,308 posts)We need better messaging. Remember Carville with, Its the economy stupid!
We need that kind of message.

I just read some apoplexy about a boat parade.
They're getting what they want out of it.
And we're giving it to them.

If Joe had said that the guy would have had fun explaining it to his kid.
But I agree Joe has to much class to go down to that level.
