The whole point of the first amendment is that if you want to say Fuck Joe Biden then you can. And if everyone else on earth wants to call you a dick for what you did, then they can. Simple.

(8,923 posts)Twist it to mean anything they want it to mean. Both documents are used to justify the world they want to live in no matter whos individual rights are trampled by their inconsiderate actions. We can do it because we can [insert any imaginary reasoning] we want to because one or the other or both of these two documents say we can.

(11,314 posts)If you boss sees you being a total sh*t on TV - and fires your ass next Monday - that also is not a violation of your 'constitutional rights.'
(you're being fired for being an offensive drag on the rest of the workforce, and a negative representative of the company - just the same as if you were that person that refuses to shower or use deodorant for two months.) So - buh-bye!

(11,314 posts)but, I was speaking on general terms.
Many people seem to be under the impression that if the speech (or general piggish behavior) didn't happen while 'on the clock' they are immune from workplace consequences. There are literally hundreds of cases just in the last year or so saying, "WRONG!" And don't let the screen door hit you ...

(18,634 posts)They always think that freedom of speech means they they have the right to say anything and one else has the right to criticize what they say.
Of course it really means that the government can't arrest you for expressing your opinion but you are not protected from consequences of what you say. Everyone else is welcome to verbally tear you to shreds.
