Why? calimary Dec 2021 #4
It sounds silly and it centers Biden rather than the country greenjar_01 Dec 2021 #11

It's aimed at Democrats, and the goal is to help boost voter turnout in 2022. MineralMan Dec 2021 #6

Aiming to weaken him so they can take the White House in 2024.

And like it or not, THAT comes down to one guy. And how we have that guy’s back.

Too many whiners complaining that he hasn’t done anything/enough/fill-in-the-blank-here. It’s a corrective aimed at THEM.

Anything that’s clever and can fit on a bumper sticker and takes his side when he’s under constant assault from the unfortunately-well-organized/funded/amplified will enhance the pushback. And I think we have to BIGTIME amplify the pushback. Any such effort by Dems so far seems awfully anemic to me.

We’re up against an enemy that uses verbal bombs and mace and brickbats. I’m tired of going into battle armed with nothing but feather dusters.

We need to have his back. I have no patience for anyone who claims to be on the left but doesn't strongly support Biden. To me, they're not pulling their weight for the team. Anyone who claims to be a Dem or any flavor of liberal or progressive who would, for example, tell a pollster that they disapprove of Biden's performance should just simply be considered effectively a Republican.

Obviously, stirring up more support for President Biden will help across the board.

Some just can't get over their feeling that they aren't getting everything they want this very minute.

They will need full-throated support and strong GOTV efforts in 2022 and 2014. If we can get over ourselves and get behind those things, we can regain control of this country. If we offer only weak support, we will lose. We can't afford to do that.

Directed towards Democrats, it would seem chiding and nagging. Said towards a Republican, the reply would likely be something along the lines of “I never backed him in the first place.”

I do find myself reminded of one of my all-time favorite movie quotes.

It comes from the 1980 film “The Competition”, starring Amy Irving as a top-level young pianist in an international competition, Lee Remick as her piano teacher/coach/mentor, and Richard Dreyfuss as her main competitor-turned-lover. The love affair goes awry amidst the pressure of the competition and Amy Irving sits in a side room in a big blue funk about the relationship’s possible end because she won the competition. So Lee Remick seeks to straighten out her prize student:

“It’s going to take another 100 years for nature to evolve the kind of man you have in mind. Until that time, get out there and dance with what there IS!”

Hard to describe how powerful I found that quote to be - not just regarding a specific love affair, but WAY relevant, just metaphorically - in the sense of pointing out a well-intentioned but mistaken positioning: “keep holding out for perfect when the merely good is right in front of you, staring you straight in the face.”

And I think it’s worth aiming at wobbly Dems, and uncertain independents. Especially as we go into an election year where all the talk seems to be leaning against Democrats keeping control of the House and Senate.

Followed by a region specific or national list of their incompetence and criminality.

We HAVE TO UNITE!

Must!!!

Have to!

The last thing we need to do, going to a critical election year (an EMERGENCY election year), is to be waffling and quibbling and giving up on a President who doesn’t get ANY credit for all the beneficial things he’s done for America, in his first year, and the “Perfection or Bust” folks on our side cannot be ignored or shrugged off because he hasn’t turned out to be some Perfection Superman Machine in their view.

I think we have to push back on that, and remind each other what’s at stake if we quibble and complain about how “disappointed” we are in the job he’s done.

We risk having them not show up at the polls next November if we don’t get big, strong, and solid behind him.

It’s a “mere” midterm election coming up. His turn at re-election isn’t til 2024. But you bet yer ass he’s gonna be on the ballot in 2022. The bad guys are gonna do everything they can to put him there, to help soften his support so he’s a dead man walking by 2024. THAT, I suspect, is their strategy.

This is Red Alert time! And we need to act NOW.

The bill? I disagree. It's better to focus on what something does for the people rather than making it about the president. As a general slogan, I don't see what it accomplishes. The people we need to reach are wavering on Biden. Being told they need to support him "better" isn't going to convince them.

Especially when all they hear in the media is one of a thousand versions of “Dump on Biden.”

I think pushback is needed. All kinds of pushback. Gentle and otherwise. As often as possible.
