I’d say there’s about a 99% chance I get it at work so maybe it would be better to get it now before my booster immunity wanes. I got the booster about 8 weeks ago and the articles I was reading yesterday said effectiveness against Omicron begins to wane after 10 weeks.

I need a vacation lol (luckily I’m scheduled off work for vacation the last two weeks of January, that may be when Omicron is everywhere).

I was out and about on 24th and maybe 20% of people were masked. It's just nuts.

We flew out to Arizona for short trip on the 9th. We were both a little nervous about going. I surely wouldn't fly now.

FYI, that's 4 million globally per year, not just in US.

4 MILLION died in India alone from COVID in 2021 from Delta.

The analysis, from the Center for Global Development, a think tank in Washington, D.C., looks at the number of "excess deaths" that occurred in India between January 2020 and June 2021 — in other words, how many more people died during that period than during a similar period of time in 2019 or other recent years.

Drawing death data from civil registries and other sources, the report came up with three estimates for undercounts. The conclusion is that between 3.4 and 4.7 million more people died in that pandemic period than would have been predicted. That's up to 10 times higher than the Indian government's official death toll of 414,482.

The same government that downplayed reports of bodies floating down the Ganges, hospitals running out of oxygen, and who's run by a Trumper? Ok.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/14/world/asia/india-modi-science-icmr.html

In September 2020, eight months before a deadly Covid-19 second wave struck India, government-appointed scientists downplayed the possibility of a new outbreak. Previous infections and early lockdown efforts had tamed the spread, the scientists wrote in a study that was widely covered by the Indian news media after it was released last year.

The results dovetailed neatly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two main goals: restart India’s stricken economy and kick off campaigning for his party in state elections that coming spring. But Anup Agarwal, a physician then working for India’s top science agency, which reviewed and published the study, worried that its conclusions would lull the country into a false sense of security.

Dr. Agarwal took his concerns to the agency’s top official in October. The response: He and another concerned scientist were reprimanded, he said.
