Right now, Trump is feeling the heat from the investigation in New York. As evidenced by his attempt to sue the attorney general. He knows he will be able to worm his way around the feeble attempts by Congress in the January 6th investigation. All he has to do is kick the can down the road until the midterms.

New York is another story entirely. This is what he really fears, and why in recent days he has pretended that he is a fair and reasonable guy. Trump is the ultimate con-man, a chameleon who will pretend to change his beliefs on a moments notice if he thinks it will benefit him.
