General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsQuestions are being asked ...
... by Trump humpers - and don't think for a minute they're not.
Trump is getting his butt kicked in courtroom after courtroom. Conservative judges, even judges he himself appointed, are ruling against him. The question being asked is why the all-powerful Orange Oz is emerging as a loser over and over again.
Trump is being booed at his own 'events', which are sparsely-attended in comparison to his rally heydays, because he's stepped over the line by advocating being vaccinated. The question being asked is whether he was lying about Covid being a hoax, or whether he has sold out to the dark side - not a good look either way.
Trump is begging his supporters for money. The question being asked is why a self-proclaimed multi-billionaire has to beg for funds?
Trump's allies (co-conspirators) are refusing to testify before the Jan/6 committee. The question being asked is why true patriots who have nothing to hide are choosing to hide everything they know - and why they are invoking their 5th amendment right to not self-incriminate themselves.
Trump is giving interviews wherein he is rewriting the events of January 6th - and the question being asked is why he is now downplaying what his supporters believe was a righteous patriotic response to a "stolen election".
Spare me the "all Trump-humpers think alike" rhetoric. His base has been eroding from day one, his allies are reconsidering their political futures, and choosing between telling the truth and going to prison is not a viable option.
There are questions being asked by the heretofore gullible - and the answers don't add up.
It may take some time - but even those who paid good money for cure-all-snake-oil eventually realize they've been had.

All it will take is one half-way intelligent "leader" with a little self control to turn those peope into a juggernaut.

(22,058 posts)Trump doesn't need a mob of insurrectionists this time, his insurrectionists are busy at the state level purging honest election officials and replacing them with pro-Trump Magats. In the last coup attempt Trump tried to overturn the verified results of the election, for that to happen he needed a mob. The next time, Trump's Magats are positioned in positions of power where they can declare who won the election. This 2nd coup attempt will need to be challenged by Democrats to overturn bogus election results. It will go to the SC where at least 3 justices have proclaimed that states have an absolute right to run their own elections.
Where is Garland? These fraudits are illegal, they violate both state and federal election laws.

(35,599 posts)2024 he will have to distance himself from the crazies to get the votes from people in the suburbs. He doesn't
do anything unless it is to serve himself. I don't think he has any core beliefs other than DJT a few years ago he

(22,058 posts)It doesn't matter one iota how many times Trump pisses them off, they will never ever vote for a Democrat, they may not show up to vote but their buddies are counting the votes.
Trump is pushing vaccines and boosters now to look less crazy to get votes in the suburbs.

(2,308 posts)Correct. As has been said, Trump didn't create the radical base, he simply emboldened an existing segment of white supremacists. If Biden can get the voting rights bill passed and undo all the state's legislation to control elections, we might have a chance. We might at least keep a Dem in the White House with veto power.

You know, of course, Florida's very close to us, she said. I think a lot of people here are very strong, as I am, [on] Ron DeSantis. What he's doing in Florida is a great model.
IMO, the people in FL who think DeSantas is a rock star, are experiencing some form of tunnel vision. And depending on which opinions you look at, 'a lot of people' isn't a majority, outside the Republicans.

(12,055 posts)yet he got 10 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016.
While I appreciate your optimism, there's also the issue that some of this stuff (i.e. Trump's butt getting kicked in courtroom after courtroom) is probably not being covered in the media that Trump fans pay attention to.
These questions you talk about are definitely being asked, but I'm not sure how often they're being asked by people who actually voted for him over Biden. Either way, Trump has always had a habit of offering up the most ridiculous statements to justify why he's right, and his followers buy them. Or don't care.
Septua
(2,308 posts)..the 2024 election outcome is premature. Right now, the big issues are probably high gas prices, reduced supply and the frickin' pandemic, for the average voter. They don't see the 'big picture', just the snapshot of their little world.
If the GOP was trying to help fix the country rather than simply 'stop Biden' and admit he's actually accomplishing good stuff, like low unemployment, a healthy GDP and new jobs, things would turn around sooner than later.

(22,058 posts)he would give P.T. Barnum a run for his money. He is a brilliant showman. His actions and speech which appear to be signs of stupidity are all an act. Yes he was a horrible college student which only means he wasn't qualified to go to college, but that doesn't make him stupid.
Donald Trump is not stupid, Donald Trump is mentally ill.

(12,611 posts)Mental illness can be helped with therapies and meds.
Malignant narcissism cannot be helped,no meds work, therapy makes them worse.
There is no recovery for dark triads.
The problem is who narcissists, authoritarians and sociopaths are,
And who you are is not an illness.

They are very active grass roots types. They live breath and crap TFG's messaging from 2010 and beyond.

They will die before they give up their beliefs...and they would rather see TFG die then admit they were lied to.

(33,453 posts)... maybe that's why the so-called "rallies" are sparsely attended.
Other Repukes like Cruz, DeSantis, even McConnell are no longer toadying up to him. Why is that, I wonder? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Chump is banned from Twitter and Facebook, and he can't burn them with his nasty tweets like he used to.
If (and when) Faux Noise finally abandons Chump, it will be all over. He's on his way to Chumpville already.

(3,252 posts)A lot of his decrease in popularity is because he is not against vaccinations. Fucked-in-the-head extremists (and there are plenty of them) are moving on from the extremist Trump to something even more extreme. We should be very afraid of these cretins!
