Oklahoma state Sen. Rob Standridge (R) has introduced a bill that would give any parent the power to ban books in school districts, the [link:https://www.mcalesternews.com/cnhi_network/oklahoma-bill-gives-parents-the-right-to-have-a-book-removed-from-a-school-library/article_2cd5f468-641c-11ec-9674-475897eac565.html?utm_campaign=blox&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social|McAlester News-Capital reports.

Under the bill, if just one parent objects to a book it must be removed within 30 days. Parents can also collect at least $10,000 per day if the book is not removed as requested

This would make headlines and the Republican supporters of the bill would be apoplectic.

Sounds like legalized extortion to me.

Thank you, Roberts Court, for acting all "confused" about whether laws that authorize vigilante attacks based on nothing more than an aggrieved person's hurt fee-fees should be allowed to stand.

Idiots. And I was born in Oklahoma (Tulsa).

Come on now, have a little common sense and don't propose such idiotic bills. I suspect that this is just grandstanding but still, to propose something like this is idiotic.

I can sense a lot of abuse coming out of this bill if enacted, just think, an easy way for a parent to make $10K a day, eh? Just simply object to any book (or a slew of books) and get $10K a day for each book!

Idiots that propose bills like this should be thrown automatically out of office for being so dumb. Seriously. The folks in OK are better than this.

after all, we don't need no education!

Well we got no choice
All you girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well we can't salute ya can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya that's a drag
School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's
Dirty looks yeah yeah
Well we got no class
And we got no principals
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes
School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's
Dirty looks
Out for summer
Out till fall
We might not come
Back at all
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave those kids alone
Hey! teachers! leave the kids alone!
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces
My school's out completely

but it should be worrisome that they are even being proposed/considered. I mean, how many times did they try to figure out a way to ban abortion in a state until they succeeded. We need to draw attention to things like this before they creep up on us and actually become law (seems highly plausible in Oklahoma)

If this passes, start requesting books be removed immediately.....i would start with Little House on the Prairie (Native Americans without clothes), and move onto Nancy Drew....etc. You get the picture.

Make them look like the halfwits they are.
