This somebody will make a calculated decision - "it's either him or me and it ain't gonna be me" - and they are going to spill at the mouth and sink Tr**p.
I think this moment is coming soon.
The question is - who is this 'somebody' gonna be?
Hmmmm.........

They will become famous. Garner a lot of attention.
I think we're in for some real interesting times.

(3,219 posts)you are right on this. The DOJ will have their work handed to them. Someone will spill the beans and that will end the shenanigans of the repug party for a generation as far as winning most elections. Which makes me wonder how they could win electios with only 29% (read it somewhere recently) of the electorate.

(17,861 posts)Lots of people have already come to the committee voluntarily. We don't know who they are, but I think at least a couple have given testimony that implicated Trump. Mark Meadows gave up his text messages, which show that the people closest to Trump believed he was directing the coup, or at least he was allowing it to take place without interfering. They probably have enough to send his case to Justice and have him indicted, but I think they're trying to get some irrefutable evidence before they do that.
PatSeg
(53,248 posts)And yes, it is probably more than one person. It is understandable that such a person or persons is not doing so publicly at this time, as it would be part of an ongoing investigation and there is no room for error.
Trump has made far too many enemies, even among those who supported him. He does not inspire loyalty, just fear and resentment. Eventually it all has to come to a head. Trump is a fool if he thinks people aren't going to retaliate for all the abuse he has dished out for years.
Hopefully we are right.

(98,883 posts)question is there enough to indict trump, and will the AG do it?
Eyeball_Kid
(7,604 posts)We should also know that any DOJ investigation that leads to a GJ indictment, especially one that's so far-reaching that it includes members of Congress, must be so thorough that Justice knows all of the answers before they ask questions. So it makes sense that, if the J6 Committee has incriminating evidence, so does the DOJ, and vice versa.
Logically, if the DOJ has incriminating evidence, they must prosecute. They have no choice. Given what the J6 Committee has already uncovered, no prosecutions from the DOJ means that the DOJ is no longer a functioning arm of the Executive Branch.
IOW, if there are no prosecutions of the organizers of the insurrection, then our nation has already undergone a successful coup, and that what we're seeing and reading in the daily news about "investigations" and potential prosecutions of the enablers and organizers is nothing but window dressing-- a Potemkin exercise intended to mollify the masses, but with no meaningful consequences. It also means that the next insurrection attempt will be a cakewalk, and the Capitol and perhaps the White House will be overrun by the new Barbarians. But only if the Barbarians don't already have the keys to the doors. If all of that is true, Biden may as well resign and invite Trump back to the White House.
But no. Even given that the federal government, including the DOJ, is peppered with Trumpian fascists, there are simply too many professional staff at DOJ who would fight to the death to preserve the Union and the Constitution. If the DOJ did not have designs on prosecuting co-conspirators to the insurrection, the leaking of that intent within the department would be the kind of news that would circulate all over the globe in seconds. Right now, the evidence uncovered by the J6 Committee is so abundant and powerful that prosecutions are more predictable than the dawning of tomorrow's day.
So all of this is coming to a head. The J6 Committee is the rooster that crows at the first light of day. The DOJ will be the morning sunshine. It's either inevitable, or the nation has already collapsed.

(23,730 posts)Everybody needs to remember that there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes we never hear about because
investigators don't want the bad guys to know they're after them. It's why I give Garland a lot of rope.

(2,854 posts)I'm not at all sure at this point that "spilling the tea" would do her much good. The prosecution will present their sentencing recommendations to the judge at the time they go back to court for that hearing, so it's possible that if she gave up more information it could help her case for a lighter jail term, but the judge will make the ruling on time to be served.

(25,550 posts)That he molests women? That he is a failure as a businessman? That he pals up to dictators and hates democracies? That he hired Russian assets to the top tier of his Administration? That he plotted to overturn a lawful election? That he sabotaged the fight against Covid? That he is a liar and conman? That he pardoned his cronies in crime? That he fired all of the investigators who were looking into his crimes? That he promotes violence against his political foes? That he lied to get massive loans, many of which he defaulted? That he cheated on his taxes?
He committed most of his crimes right out in the open. In fact, he brags about many of them. It is part of his appeal.
The problem isn't so much that we don't know what he did. The problem is that he is likely to get away with it.

(2,591 posts)Now that things are getting to a point where potentially, maybe, possibly some consequences are going to start being a part of all this someone might decide that its gonna be him not me
Having said that I have thought for years now that surely someone with knowledge of DTs actions and methods still has some vestige of Country 1st, Party 2nd patriotism still left and would drop the dime on DT and Congress would take appropriate action
.that obviously has not happened. A few brave people have stood up and spoke out much to their detriment only to find out that while the Dems still believe in law & order and accountability the GOP is every bit as crooked as DT.
Maybe now is the time this changes. Lets hope so. So many have paid with their lives because of things he has done.

FakeNoose
(41,954 posts)I believe the OP has stated correctly that LOTS of people are keeping silent about Chump's crimes and sooner or later someone is going to crack. They're finally realizing that their silence is what has enabled Chump all these years. The older and weaker Chump becomes, the easier it is to see that he can't stop people from talking once they decide to spill the beans.
It won't be enough to convict Chump though. I think it's way beyond that. People should see that he's Benedict Arnold, Aaron Burr and John Wilkes Booth all rolled into one.

(71,549 posts)spill the beans on Trump a couple of days ago. Here's hoping that Trump is outed in all ways. The next question is this...will it make a difference to Trumpers? That I don't know. Will they even believe it?

(28,493 posts)but it probably won't. Just ask yourself, why, in all this time, no one has really done so. Also ask, why have all of the many revelations about Trump's stupidity, ignorance, venality, and outright criminality, has made no difference whatsoever to those who support him?

What the heck is causing all the delays? So many miscreants, so little results.(to date)
People were oh-so-hopeful at the start of the Mueller investigation.
No such luck, so many hopes, so little results.
