Comey helped to elect TFG both with his asshole press conference and intentional disclosure of the email issue just before the election. Comey also hid the facts of Russian interference for TFG. Comey is pond scum

(10,333 posts)There was no shortage of ties involving his campaign and the Russians and/or their agents (Manafort sharing insider campaign polling data with a Russian agent immediately comes to mind).

(13,003 posts)I think his bullshit about the so called "new" emails, released at the last minute to do the most damage was THE thing that tipped the scales to Trump and Republican Party Politicians.........
We have now lived through three elections that were corrupted to "install" a Republican president.......
If the Dems don't get busy, in 2022 the Republicans will lay the ground work for the fourth time in 2024......

(7,191 posts)BTW, when were Harry Reid's letters released? This is the first I've seen them.
Maybe if Reid had released them at the time, it would have helped quash some of the damage done to Hillary by Comey....

(4,094 posts)That the buffoon fired him is another story, and who knows if the firing happened to hide their past complicity..."I will fire you and make it look like you did not help me and that we are not friends."

(20,591 posts)Giving Trump all the free airtime in the world was fantastic for their ratings.
They always got what they wanted out of King Con, especially after he was elected. Non-stop coverage of a train wreck. It just doesn't get any better than that if you're a media mogul.

(14,689 posts)All this was common knowledge. Democrats are so afraid of our own shadows. There is a deep seated paranoi and paralysis infecting all the way to the top. That if they dare expose things that will cause "controversy" they shy away, afraid of Fox News and it coming back to bite them.
I said at the time, Obama should have laughed off McConnell, and held a big press conference, with all the heads of the 13 or so Intelligence departments that determined Russia was interfering, and interfering for Trump, all standing behind him in uniform. And then President Obama should have donned a serious face, and described what Russia was doing with the Trump campaign. Even with examples of Russian troll posts and misinformation. With some of the officers showing with visual aids just how this was done.
And ads for Hillary and the Democrats about getting out to vote to save America from that kind of corruption and foreign interference. Highlight how much the Trumps owe Russian oligarchs.
Instead of bowing to Republicans who threatened to make it out that Democrats were just overly paranoid, and using a fake distraction, in order to win, Democrats should have gone all in, with courage of the truth behind them. And hammered it in, over and over.
I still think they were, and are way too meek and mild in their response to what Republicans are fomenting. If Republicans win back the House, and then use that majority to put the finishing touches on helping R states to repress the votes of D's even more, and prevent any type of "voter rights" laws passing, they will take back the Presidency in 2024, and will finally transform America into their dream, a permanent Republican Fascist State. IMO Democrats should be raising the alarm NOW. Bannon, Stone, Flynn, all of them are working overtime to help set up the slow coup. Along with R governors.
Sometimes it feels like I'm a frog in that slowly warming pot of water, but I'm totally aware of it, but can't stop it either. Democrats it seems are fiddling around with the knobs, and managed to turn it down slightly delaying the Fascist Frog Feast. But its time to kick over the pot, cut the gas off, and shout out as loud as they can. One thing as an outsider from Canada I witness is that for all their faults, which are legion, the Republicans come off in the media as having more passion, and thus more conviction to their "principles" (even if it seems to be reduced to simply owning libs). They come off as the ones worried the most about the future state of the country. The Democrats seem to come off as always on the defensive, putting out fires, and resigning for indiscretions that wouldn't even raise an eyebrow on the other side.
The media loves to glob onto any story that shows some Democrats arguing with other Democrats. They will continue to focus on that angle because its all we give them. The luke warm resonse to the slow coup against democracy is just not entertaining. Sorry to say it, but we need to be more entertaining. In the most honest way. Because the truth is gripping, if its exposed and described in the voice it deserves.

Still, I wish that Comey had kept his mouth shut about both issues under investigations or spoke about both instead of just HRC.
