(24,722 posts)My husband is positive...with mild symptoms. He most likely caught if from one of our employees who is vaxxed and boosted who attended a family Christmas get together where all eligible attendees were vaxxed and boosted. As of last Thursday ALL of those in attendance except are all positive except one. All of them have various levels of sickness. Two twin infants have 103+ temps are are very sick. I have tested negative twice but have a sore throat, fever, cough and runny nose. I'm betting I'm positive and the antigen tests just haven't picked it up. Omicron is CRAZY contagious. The only thing I can recommend is to steer clear of everyone that you can...and do not skip mask wearing, ever.
Hope you recover quickly...this sucks for sure.
One more thing. I have another employee who has a newborn at home. He and his wife did not get together with family over the holidays because of their little one. The rest of the family did gather...there were 18 of them and every single one of them was vaxxed and boosted and every single one of the now has covid. For real. Omicron ain't playing.

You must lay low and stay hydrated and hey, extra vitamin C is pure hell on whatever ails us! Baby yourself as much as possible - that dadgum laundry and vacuuming will just have to WAIT!!
Ive been out and about today scoring food at two different groceries, and I wouldnt be shocked to catch a case of covid, I honestly wouldnt
Sending best wishes to you

(76,700 posts)Went to doctor. Tested negative. (They showed me the test card.)
Drainage was clear & colorless so she said "just a cold".
Never had a cold make me feel that crummy. Also, lasted a full 2 weeks not the usual 8 or 9 days.
Now, I'm hearing rapid tests are missing omicron. So, I'm unsure.
But, my wife got nothing. So,.....

(13,282 posts)Lasted 3 weeks because she couldn't stay home for all of it being top manager, even her taking a week off told me how bad it was, we can't get her to take vacation at all. She was tested many times for covid but always negative.

And hell, if you can contract it with two boosters, yikes.
markie
(24,017 posts)however, I said what the hell... I will be the test case... first 2 shots with VT Department of Health... 1st booster with primary... guess they don't communicate and the state kept reminding me to get my booster, SO... I went any they gave me another shot
and yikes is right... this is crazy!!

(4,131 posts)my granddaughter tested positive. I'm with my grandchildren all the time. My grandson is negative but I'm sure I got this one. I think most people will get Omicron it's just too contagious
I like what I'm reading here about it being mild almost like cold and flu

(62 posts)and boosted (as I am) is not protecting us from catching and spreading. Ugh. My local hospital numbers do show that about 90%+ of those admitted are unvaxxed. Also about the same numbers for those in icu..on ventilators...unvaccinated. it still concerns me about the few fully vaxxed people who are in icu. I just want this to go away.
there will always be a few exceptions (vaxxed in hospital) however, my understanding is the vaccination is saving a lot of people from more serious problems...
YES! we want this to go away

(34,289 posts)She is 89 and has been at death's door for the past month due to some serious heart issues.
She tested positive last Wednesday after she developed pneumonia, but they sent her home today.
Hubby tested positive the next day mainly because he paid $90 to a private testing place
He's doing fine and I'm pretty sure I have it.
I coughed a bit for a few days, but burning eyes have been my worst symptom. (Allergies probably complicated the eye thing)
The hardest thing for us: I had not bought groceries and we were completely out of food and coffee. I hadn't gotten back in the groove of curbside, so for a few days, we were going through the drive throughs of fast food places for all of our food!
Last night, I finally placed a curbside order for groceries.

(14,443 posts)Came home today, 3 positive for covid.
He had to get fully vaccinated (and very angry about it) in order to be allowed to work. He was negative. Wife and kids (unvaccinated) all positive. They are very nice folks, educated, but purely stupid on this subject, a dozen dumb excuses.
It makes me wonder if there was anyone at the theme parks this week who didnt bring home a car full of omicron.
We took the grandson to Disney for a week over Christmas break. Probably not the brightest, but a week before Christmas, omicron wasnt yet such a huge thing. Were vaccinated and boosted, wore good masks, didnt eat in restaurants (had a place with a kitchen), and seem to have come through it healthy. Truthfully, Im more leery of my local stores where most of the red neck customers and half the employees arent masked correctly.

(52,793 posts)I think my husband lugged the virus home from a work holiday gathering. He works with a couple of folks who refuse to vax, sadly.
That said, I'm comforted by the fact that my entire HH is vaxed and boosted. I expect we'd fare much worse were that not the case.
Feel better soon.

(1,495 posts)his work who got vaccinated.
On Monday, an unvaxxed coworker had symptoms of Covid, but claimed he took a test and it was negative. Sure enough, he tested positive the next day, and now most of the employees are infected with Covid. He must have been a superspreader! His boss told him that almost everyone was out sick with Covid and they were going to have to close down. It's a big company too.
My husband is really sick. 102.1 fever, sore throat, muscle weakness, and non stop coughing. He can't even speak a few words without a coughing fit.
I don't know why they didn't crack down enough on these unvaxxed idiots. These germ spreaders should have to work from home and stay in their houses! I'm so furious.

best wishes for your husband... it's no fun
