Jury finds Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes guilty on multiple charges in criminal fraud trial (CNBC)

From New York Times:

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jurors in the trial of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the blood testing start-up Theranos, reiterated late Monday that they were unable to agree on three of the 11 counts in her fraud case after earlier being instructed by the judge to keep going.

The jury of eight men and four women has spent around 50 hours over seven days so far deliberating whether Ms. Holmes, 37, is guilty of two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and nine counts of wire fraud. Each fraud count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Guilty verdicts related to counts involving patients. The guilty verdicts related to investors.

She pretty much only conned other rich people. She's small potatoes compared to the real criminals out there.

I daresay if you read Bad Blood by WSJ writer John Carreyrou you wouldn't be saying that.

Holmes ran a toxic workplace where employees were terrified of going bankrupt through legally protecting themselves from suits pressed by her company. The employees were being asked to lie about machines that didn't work and that risked the health of people who used her tests. She is a bully and a liar and I don't care how she gets prosecuted and what the counts are, as long as she goes to prison, I will be satisfied.

The fact that she took people like the Waltons to the cleaners is just the frosting on the cake.

huge deal over her and not the republican insurrectionists is insane. The priorities are so out of whack. She deserves to be punished, no doubt.

I am just saying that there are so many other people who we need to be focusing on right now. And we need to be committing to imprisoning these other people, because what she did is not nearly as bad as what they did.

It doesn't mean that she shouldn't be punished, but it just means that if she SHOULD, that they should be punished even MORE.
