Dallas salon owner Shelley Luther’s recent tweet that “Chinese students should be BANNED from attending all Texas universities” is being met with criticism from a state representative who says the statements are hateful and could incite violence.

“No more communists,” the tweet reads.

Luther gained national attention in 2020 when she was arrested after refusing to close her salon in violation of Gov. Greg Abbott’s COVID-19 orders designed to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

“Texas Taxpayers should not be subsidizing the next generation of CCP leaders,” she wrote, referring to the Chinese Communist Party. “It’s common sense: CCP members should not have access to our schools.”

Luther is running for House District 62, ...

I hope she doesn't have kids but my guess is she does and she is racing them to be as racist as she is.

International students are now ‘subsidizing' public American universities to the tune of $9 billion a year

Tanza Loudenback Sep 16, 2016, 11:02 AM

Nearly 1 million international students study at colleges and universities across the United States, up 40% from a decade ago.

These students are heading stateside to gain access to some of the best higher education in the world — and they're paying top dollar for it.

In fact, recent data from SelfScore, a company providing financial services to international students, reveals that foreign students pay up to three times more than in-state students at public universities, "effectively subsidizing tuition costs for domestic students and functioning as a bailout for universities."

International students are crucial to the US economy in two primary ways: They're financing a chunk of education costs for public universities and their domestic students, and they're fueling the US tech industry.

...as a way to make up funding shortfalls in the wake of state disinvestment from public higher education. They pay full fare for attendance, while in-state students are subsidized by state legislatures. As that investment declines, universities are left scrambling for full tuition payers to keep their programs intact.

Hmm. Whatever could be the reason she didn't include Russian students in her "no commies" screed?

Or elected office. Or even appointed to an office that gives them any power over others. They shouldn't be police or prosecutors or public defenders. They shouldn't be correction officers or doctors or nurses. They shouldn't be allowed in the military. The list goes on and on.

They simply can't be trusted not to act on their racism. They will harm someone. Either directly or by creating the conditions where people are harmed. In the case of elected office, they have a bigger opportunity to harm large numbers of people. Racist judges, prosecutors, and police as well.

They can't help themselves. If you truly believe what your racist thoughts tell you, then you can't be trusted. If you can't see that your racist thoughts are, in fact, racist, you can't be trusted.

Yeah, yeah. They have rights. There's no denying that.

But so do the people they harm with their racism, but those rights get denied all the fucking time.

I sincerely hope those triggered by words are as equally outraged by racism. (and sexism, and homophobia, and, and, and, etc..)
