(34,857 posts)My brother passed away from leukemia when he was 12 years old and she made it a point to give to them every year. When she passed away from cancer in 2020, I asked for donations to be made in her honor.

(39,110 posts)Both organizations do, indeed, provide medical services to children free of charge. Both are wonderful. The difference being that St. Jude focuses on childhood "catastrophic diseases, particularly leukemia and other cancers". The Shriners "provide orthopedic care, burn treatment, cleft lip and palate care and spinal cord injury rehabilitation."

(2,113 posts)It's a good cause and the money is well spent. Also, they don't relentlessly hound us asking us to up our monthly contribution. (ASPCA called constantly. Got so sick of hearing from them that we ended up finding another animal charity.)
