In fact when she passed, they were one of the "in lieu of flowers" organizations we asked people to donate to:

St. Jude's
the local food bank
Alzheimer's Association

My brother passed away from leukemia when he was 12 years old and she made it a point to give to them every year. When she passed away from cancer in 2020, I asked for donations to be made in her honor.

in Philadelphia over the years.

Same mission, and they were amazing.

Nothing against St Judes, I just have first hand experience with Shriners and have known many of the children they help.

Both organizations do, indeed, provide medical services to children free of charge. Both are wonderful. The difference being that St. Jude focuses on childhood "catastrophic diseases, particularly leukemia and other cancers". The Shriners "provide orthopedic care, burn treatment, cleft lip and palate care and spinal cord injury rehabilitation."

Of St. Jude. Survivor of Brain Cancer. Didn’t cost his family a dime. I’ve actually spearheaded a bike-a-thon for them. Great cause and organization.

as my daughter decided to do the same, maybe due to post-partum hormone activity.

All 4 grands are fine, and I want to contribute every time I see an ad.

My good friend’s son was treated there. They were absolutely thrilled with the medical staff and all of the support staff. They could not say enough about how great everyone was at St. Jude’s.

It's a good cause and the money is well spent. Also, they don't relentlessly hound us asking us to up our monthly contribution. (ASPCA called constantly. Got so sick of hearing from them that we ended up finding another animal charity.)

A devout Catholic, she regularly prayed to St. Jude for her grown children.

According to my wife, St. Jude is the patron saint for "lost causes".
