The Covid-19 pandemic in Oregon has reached a dire stage, with the Oregon Health Authority advising hospitals how to ration care when they run out of beds, and officials warning the public that widespread infections will disrupt everyones life.
During a news conference on Friday, Dr. Dean Sidelinger, Oregons state epidemiologist, said the highly infectious omicron variant will sicken more people much more quickly than other variants, causing a steep rise in hospitalizations.
More than 10,000 people added in one day to the rolls of those infected, and hospital admissions for Covid continued to climb around the state.
Sidelinger said the thousands of unvaccinated Oregonians should consider the developments a red alert.
It will overburden our already exhausted health care workers and oversaturate our health care system, Sidelinger said. It will disrupt lives and livelihoods.

(15,135 posts)Lots of anti-vaxxers here plus lots of Trumpers. Our Covid numbers are rising quickly. My husband and I have gone into lock down again.
He is scheduled to have hip replacement surgery this Wednesday. Not in the hospital though. The doctor has his own surgery center. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

(11,479 posts)That meets weekly in Metaphysical library in Ashland and I didn't go today, hubby and I put on best masks we had, did a larger shopping and going to stay put for two weeks, then check case numbers. When I saw there was almost 500 yesterday and 300 today I knew we had to be extra good.
We barely go out as it is, this is so hard!
Wishing the best for your hubby!
